This was a buddy read and lively discussion with NZLisaM and DeAnn, so be sure to watch for their amazing reviews, to see how they felt about this story. My personal favourite is the story of how the ‘genuine sensationalist’ Kanhaiya Lal Gauba — hailing from a prominent family in Lahore — became Khurshid Latif Gauba in 1933, and eventually chose to stay in Bombay over Lahore only because of his differences with the Muslim League. Needless to say this intense storyline is utterly gripping as it is suspenseful with tension that is so taught the atmosphere can be cut with a knife. Ellie and Ash have been together for about a year and decide to move to the countryside for some peace away from London. Although there was some tension, their first neighborhood barbeque and meeting the neighbors went okay.

Events, anecdotes and personalities drive its narrative to illustrate the cocktail of hostility, nationalism and nostalgia that defines every facet of the relationship.I did like the character of Sandy, but sadly his appearances were few and far between, and not enough to save it.

Hi, I'm Keri Beevis, and I'm the author of the bestselling psychological suspense thrillers, Deep Dark Secrets, Dying To Tell, The Sleepover, and The Summer House. Shortly after, Salma witnesses her next door neighbor, Tom Hutton, knocking down the “Black Lives Matter” banner they have in their yard. The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they aren't true, but they are incomplete. Be sure to read other reviews for this story because many other reviewers enjoyed this story much more than I did. They come across one they can’t resist-it was an amazing deal in the country side, perfect for a young couple with dreams of a family in the future. But he does so selectively, focusing the narrative on the outliers to construct a ‘curious history’ of the tumultuous relationship.

They move into an idyllic Cotswold Village but quite quickly learn that their house was the scene of a family tragedy, when the father lost his job and went mad with a shotgun. Nice distinct voices and I felt she really added the emotion that was appropriate to the scenes at the time. Not long after they move in, Salma spots her neighbour, Tom Hutton, ripping out the anti-racist banner she put in her front garden.
