As well as Jodie and Sandy, Grace has to contend with the relative failure of his previous case where the murderer escaped. And there’s a return, too, for Tooth, the assassin from last time out who is determined to do his job in England and get home to his dog … Use italics (lyric) and bold (lyric) to distinguish between different vocalists in the same song part Previous Peter James novels brought to the stage include: 'Looking Good Dead' which premiered last year starring Adam Woodyatt and Gaynor Faye; 'The House on Cold Hill' starring Joe McFadden and Rita Simons in 2019; 'Not Dead Enough' starring Shane Richie and Laura Whitmore in 2017; 'Dead Simple' starring Tina Hobley in 2015 and 'The Perfect Murder' starring Les Dennis and Claire Goose in 2014. Meanwhile, Victoria Pedretti revealed: "I'm pretty sure we had an understanding about how Love's story was going to end before I even signed on to the show, so I've been prepared." Clive Mantle's extensive range of credits across theatre, film and television, include an Olivier Award nominated performance in Of Mice and Men. He is perhaps best known for his TV work in shows such as Casualty, Holby City, Game of Thrones and The Vicar of Dibley and is also an award-winning children's author.

Peter James is a UK number one bestselling author, best known for writing crime and thriller novels, and the creator of the much-loved Detective Superintendent Roy Grace. Globally, his books have been translated into thirty-seven languages.Peter James has kept this series crisp and fresh all through, and book 12 is no exception. There’s a lot going on in Love You Dead, but James, a consummate storyteller, juggles several plot threads adeptly, including a number from previous books. Within a year, and under police protection, she evicts him from her flat and her life. But far from being over, her nightmare is only just beginning. For Bryce is obsessed and besotted with her. He intends to destroy, by fire, everything and everyone she has ever known and loved—and then her, too. It’s up to Detective Superintendent Roy Grace to stop him before it’s too late… With three killers on the loose, Roy Grace has his hands full with just doing his job. I thought that since this is called the Roy Grace series that Roy Grace would be in the novel more often. However, Roy Grace is not a dominant character until the second half of the novel and very much so at the end. However, his personal story left me wanting to know what has happened to him in the last eleven books, especially since he resolves some of the “ghosts” that he is confronted with in this novel that seem to have haunted him for some time. The world stage premiere of Wish You Were Dead follows five successful stage plays and the critically acclaimed smash-hit primetime ITV series 'Grace', which are all based on the best-selling novels by the UK's number one crime author Peter James. This will be the sixth stage adaptation of James' novels -making it the most successful crime thriller stage franchise since Agatha Christie. The gripping television series 'Grace' was an immediate success with audiences when it launched on ITV in 2021, with almost nine million viewers tuning in to watch the primetime drama starring John Simm as DSI Roy Grace. Series two returned to TV screens in spring this year, with five more thrilling episodes being the most watched programme across all channels on each of the Sundays they were broadcast. A third series is now in the works.

One of those is Det Supt Roy Grace’s AWOL wife Sandy. Early on, it looked like that thread was going to outstay its welcome by quite some way, but James has balanced it judiciously in later books, and matters look like coming to a head soon. George Rainsford said: "I can't wait to be part of a theatre ensemble again and delve into Peter James' thrilling criminal underworld. Getting to play Roy Grace, his most renowned detective creation, will be a huge honour. I am excited to meet audiences from all over the UK, and share with them some enthralling, edge-of-your-seat entertainment!" Clive Mantle said: "I'm looking forward to terrifying... I mean entertaining... audiences up and down the length and breadth of Britain with 'Wish You Were Dead'. Full of suspense and drama, there will be many funny moments too during the course of a captivating evening. There's a clue there for starters. Roll up, roll up, all you amateur sleuths. Can't wait to see you all."There was something different about the tone of the book. Besides the usual crime solving of Roy Grace and his staff that we love, there was an edge to some of the characters in the book, in particular “Bryce” who had a more dark psychological profile to him. It made the plot intriguing but some may feel this may have overshadowed the novel but I think the intensity of that darkness gave another dimension to the book that added authenticity to the getting into the head of this character.
