Description

Lots of challenges, especially with the curses which make an already challenging game even more challenging. Did I mention it’s challenging? All explorers start on the beginning tile, with only two others visible. As you roll and move through rooms – matching dice to the symbols in those rooms – new tiles are placed and the board builds itself as you go.

For the expansion, the process is pretty much the same – just replace the 13 ‘basic’ chamber tiles (the ones that aren’t the entrance, exit or special gem chambers) with the curse and treasure tiles before carrying out the steps above. Then shuffle up the curse cards and the treasure tiles and place them to the side of the playing area. The goal of the game is to find the exit and get everyone out before the temple collapses — you've only got ten minutes. To get out, you'll need to be able to roll as many keys are there are unactivated gems — the ones in the depot — so it's important to activate gems as you search for the exit. A new chamber from the draw pile must be placed next to an entrance on a face-up tile. Die icons with a red frame Simply grab the chamber tiles, remove the starting chamber, exit chamber and gem depot and then shuffle the rest to create a draw pile. Then take the top two chamber tiles from that pile and place them either side of the starting chamber, with the stairway entrance graphic on those tiles aligned with the door graphics on the starting chamber. Next, grab the top four chamber tiles from the draw pile and shuffle them together with the exit tile. Place these five tiles at the bottom of the draw pile.I have played this about 10 tens now and the novelty has worn off. You find that in a panic some people are just not honest and wizz around without really throwing the correct dice, easily done. So starts the introduction to the rulebook. It’s a good two sentence overview of the game, but it doesn’t really answer what’s so bad about the curse, how your team found themselves in the temple, where you learned what to do when you hear a gong, or how 5 dice ended up in your hand. None of this really matters at the moment, you’ve just heard a disembodied voice implore you to ESCAPE, and you feel certain your team better do so within 10 minutes, or else! If it is a topic that has not yet been covered, you can most likely find more information here on your topic of choice. From official Escape: The Curse of the Temple useful links to very unofficial ones. A green adventurer, which appears twice on the die – you need these to move from room to room, and to activate some gems.

Escape: The Curse of the Temple is a cooperative game in which players must escape from a temple which is cursed before the temple collapses and kills one or more explorers, thereby causing everyone to lose. And while you may not be able to directly help your younger kids or siblings with their dice rolls and choices, the basic game play is simple enough that they can have a great time joining in and rolling all their dice along with the family. It suits every kind of group. You can play it on your own (in which case you’ll roll 7 dice rather than 5), with your friends, with gamers and non-gamers or with your family. In fact, it’s one of the few games in my collection which will tempt my teen off his games console to play something with the family. The fact that it’s cooperative – you’re playing together to beat the game – is a bonus in a household like mine with competitive siblings.I enjoy playing tile laying games where you explore areas and this did fit the bill. It is played in real time and I have played 2,3 & 4 player games of it. A game will take 10 mins from start to finish as each player frantically rolls their dice AT THE SAME TIME over and over again to get the Symbols they require to move around and complete tasks in the labyrinth. This is the chamber's entryway; when this tile is added to the temple, the stairway must connect this tile to the temple. Is there anything more joyous than rolling a handful of custom dice? In Escape: The Curse of the Temple, each roll sees a colourful cacophony of symbols flash before you as you eagerly wait to decipher the result. Since it’s a cooperative board game, Escape is a great game to play with the whole family. While we don’t recommend it for kids under 5, we do recommend it for everyone else. Example: Frank has managed to escape and gives one of his dice to Ani (red), who can use it immediately.
