Isopropyl alcohol is a rapidly bactericidal and a fast acting broad spectrum antiseptic, but is not considered persistent. Its mechanism of action appears to be denaturation of proteins. Hibiscrub ® antimicrobial skin cleanser has been used for more than 45 years in hospitals around the world to help manage infection. It is used for pre-operative surgical hand disinfection, antiseptic hand washing on the ward, and pre- and post-operative skin antisepsis for patients undergoing elective surgery. When you come to the hospital for your pre-assessment prior to your surgical procedure, the nurse will give you one bottle of chlorhexidine gluconate skin cleanser (HiBiScrub® Plus or Hydrex). This is an antiseptic which you need to use to prepare your skin before surgery. Preparation of your skin should start two days before the planned date of your surgery. Mix two tablespoons of water into every gallon of clean water. Veterinarians may decide to use solutions with higher concentrations. Generously spread the weakened solution onto the troubled spot. Use a clean towel or sterile gauze to wipe away any extra material. Can you use Hibiscrub on dogs bum?

Apply the solution to the affected area and let it sit for at least five minutes. What can I put on my cats skin infection?
