Description

Seiko 5 series is equipped with water resistance applications. However, for people who are a water sports enthusiast, you might want to search for a triathlon watchinstead. This feature provides a power reserve of about 1.6 days, which is more than enough for everyday use. So the watch can store about two days’ worth of juice before you’ll need to wind up the watch again. This figure is on the high end since automatic watches tend to have a power reserve up to 48 hours. Day/Date Unfortunately, one of the downsides of the SNK is that it’s a little too common. Due to its clean design and affordable price tag, the SNK is an oft-recommended entry level Seiko that many will have in their watch collection. The SKX013, like the SKX007, has strong aftermarket support. You can shop some of our SKX013 modification parts here.

In terms of values, the more expensive a watch is, the more the number of jewels is present in the watch. Accordingly, these jewels are mainly the responsible ones for the accuracy and reliability of the time and day date indicators. The SNK809 carries a military vibe overall that lands somewhere between a classic pilot’s watch and a rugged field watch, though the dial markings tilt further in the pilot direction. That’s not at all what we have here, and though I’ve passed over it on my watch searches many times, I can say now that I’d give it more than a second glance if I see it again.Apparently, many Seiko 5 posts of today would largely compare these two models. But I really don’t get the idea of comparing the two since both models have their own distinct beauty, design and elegance. You’ll see from this Seiko 5 SNK809 automatic review that the watch stands by its values and offers great value for money with excellent design, which has no doubt been the reason for its huge popularity among Seiko watch fans. Like all automatics, the SNK809 requires regular wear for it to keep going, and has a power reserve of about 40 hours. But even with constant wear, you’ll have to reset the time every couple of days to account for the deviation. Doing so might require you to service your watch more often, but the cool cred you’ll get when pairing your Seiko with your speedos will more than make up for it, right? The Movement Photography by Jacques Elliott The sharp hands are fully lumed, and the second hand is lumed on its counterweight with a flash of red on the pointer end.

and a 43mm lug-to-lug length. It's also not a dive watch, or even a dive-style watch (like the Sea Urchin). A few small gripes pop up along the way, but they’re not enough to tarnish what is otherwise a great watch with a solid value proposition. The Seiko Turtle is a relatively large watch, coming in at 44mm. However, don’t be thrown off by its specs. The square-ish, ‘cushion-case’ design of the Turtle, and its short, chunky lugs make it suitable for all but the smallest of wrists. Whilst many large dive-watches have a tendency to feel top-heavy and unbalanced, the Turtle feels extremely natural on the wrist, and wears incredibly comfortably too. Now this may not be that exclusive watch that’ll make an entire room weak in the knees whenever you stretch your hand out for that cuppa joe, but numbers don’t lie.Unlike many watches you see around these days, the SNK809 isn’t huge, it’s perfect for people looking for a watch that suits smaller wrists. Fast forward five decades later and the SNK809 stands out as the best-priced automatic made by a major brand. Powered by the time-tested 7S26 movement, this timepiece graces the wrists of millions as their daily beater watch.

The SNK809 lands somewhere between a classic IWC pilot’s watch and a Hamilton Khaki Field Watch, and borrows some of the best elements of both. Fully lume-filled minute and hour hands

Seiko SNK809 Review

After a few days of wear, it becomes softer and more comfortable, but it’s worth looking at an affordable replacement. The good news is that the SNK809 looks great on a variety of straps, including rubber and leather watch straps. A rubber strap looks great too, and it’s very comfy. The SNK809 does exactly what it’s supposed to do, and nothing more: It’s accessible, affordable, and offers a more than solid entry point into the world of mechanical watches. But I just have to point it out that adjusting and using this watch is very easy and convenient. And if the size is the only factor that you are considering, then I suggest that you think twice or even thrice before closing the doors for the SNK809. Wikipedia’s example of what 30m water resistance offers you in ‘suitable for everyday use. Splash/rain resistant. Not suitable for showering, bathing, swimming, snorkelling, water related work and fishing.’ The thing with water resistance testing is that it’s done in a still environment with no added pressure. However, this watch is a good option if you want to swim while wearing your watch. Just make sure you don’t wear it for true scuba-diving since it might get damaged in the process.
