Description

It's really fine plot, fun atmosphere of underground and evil religious cult that wants to control and invade the aboveground, curious scientist who discover strange writings on the walls of the very deep underground in Hieroglyphic old Greek letters. Mother being torn believing her son went murderous (nice idea but I hated her reaction) and a Friend getting full of the troubles his friend put him through.. I found this book encouraging and easy to read. I would recommend to anyone who desires to grow spiritually, for in this book he asks and seeks to answer this question: The first way in which the Christian grows is by seeing a fresh picture of who Jesus is. Chapter 1 depicts seven facets of Christ (his ruling, saving, befriending, persevering, interceding, returning, and tenderness) that “bring the living Christ himself into sharper, starker contrast, to see him loom larger and more radiant and more glorious than ever before” (23).

Oh to see God and behold His glory. There are no words that can describe God's glory but we feel it. We feel that there is more. It has been said and I believe it, that we were created for more. The more is God himself. But we get lost in our own sinful desires, lusts, fears, insecurities, etc. The list goes on. This text is gold. Ortund's teaching recognizes who we are before a Holy God and reminds us that it is not a fast walk to arrive. It is a lifestyle, decisions that are made every day, the mundane to the biggest days of our lives. We’re not after behavior modification in this book. I’m not going to talk to you about setting your alarm earlier or cutting carbs. We’re not even going to reflect on tithing or church attendance or journaling or small groups or taking the sacraments or reading the Puritans. All of that can be done out of rottenness of heart.” (18, my emphasis). Anne Fish, mother of Benjy “benjyfishy” Fish, and Johnny Troset Andersen, father of Martin “MrSavage” Foss Andersen, were plunged into the world of esports when their sons transitioned from gaming enthusiasts to becoming pro-Fortnite players and duo partners. They soon found themselves signing contracts with esports organisations, and providing all the administrative and technical support it takes to manage a player and their business. The Styx also planning to release a plague to get rid of all the Topsoiler population and regain control their promised Earth..

I must say that some of my favourite scenes involved Will in peril. I hate to admit it, but perilous parts in the book were fun to read about to see how the characters would get out of the situation! It wasn't as slow going as the first book since Gordon and Williams excavated and laid the groundwork for a solid underground world in TUNNELS. As a result, the plot and character development moved along at a much smoother pace in DEEPER. If you are soul-searching for unique and diverse books that will make you think differently about the world and change your life, you are in the right place. Deeper, unlike the first book that took place in London and then in the Mysterious Colony of the under ground race of humans in witch will was from! Deeper takes place a step below the colony, in the Deeps. The Deeps are consist of secret caverns, The Great plain, and a countless number of lava tubes. Will (the main character), Chester (his best friend), and Cal (his real brother that has been in the Colony all this time) stumble there way through the one hundred mile stretch that is the Great Plain with the Styx hot behind them (Styx are the evil dictateres that govern the Colony). About half way through the book the boys come across two renegades (renegades are people band from the colony for crimes and things like that. These renegades will do any thing to survive, any thing) named Drake and Elliott. The question facing believers is not if we should grow, but how. The author sets out to show you that “change is a matter of going deeper,” not a compilation of outward improvements, but an inner conviction that you already have everything you need in Christ.

If you view your sinfulness as a bothersome headache more than a lethal cancer, you will see tepid growth, if any. The gospel does not take our good and complete us with God’s help; the gospel tells us we are dead and helpless, unable to contribute anything to our rescue but the sin that requires it. Christian salvation is not enhancing. It is resurrecting.” Spiritual growth happens as we taste and see the depth of God’s love and his embrace of us. It is one thing to “know” God’s love cognitively, but it is another thing to experience it. “We grow in Christ no further than we enjoy his embrace of us. His tender, mighty, irreversible embrace into his own divine love” (70). His love does not change when we sin. He does not have to work himself up to love us—it is who he is. And as we enjoy his embrace of us, we grow. things his way. "Ever been...? Ever seen...? Ever had...?" I loved this for some reason. The book made me feel as if I were listening to a man edging towards old age Ultimately, the only way we can do all of this is through the power of the Holy Spirit. He alone empowers us and makes Christ appear as beautiful as he truly is—directing our gaze upon the infinite beauty and goodness of the Lord Jesus Christ.
