Leo and Emma have been married for seven years and together for a couple before they wed.. They seem like the ideal couple, at ease with each other . Emma loves her husband and their young daughter Ruby. Emma has suffered from cancer and that hasAs their relationship begins to strain, it feels real and heartbreaking. The breach of trust is at a place where Leo feels betrayed. What he discovers about his wife leads him to believe he doesn't know her at all. Emma is sure she has lost the love of her life!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Imogen Church and Theo Solomon who are the voices of Emma and Leo. They narrate with passion and believability that bring the characters to life. What a great listen! Meanwhile, a woman, Janice, a highly successful movie star has done a runner. No one knows why she left a rehearsal for an upcoming theatrical production and has not been seen since. Where I struggled a bit was with the tone. Is the novel a slow-burn family drama? Or a domestic thriller? It felt a little like what you’d get if Anne Tyler and Lisa Jewell decided to co-author something. Comparison to either of those two writers is far from a bad thing, but I’m not sure they’d make great collaborators.
