Description

Having been previously put off amaro by some in-your-face aggressively bitter options, trying this was a wonderful reintroduction. Stanislao designed the bottle shape, similar to an alchemist’s vial, as a visual nod to the complexity of the amaro within. These are finally added to alcohol, water and sugar to leave a bitter-orange flavoured spirit with an abv of 23%. These are extracted and mixed to make a unique and inimitable elixir and are divided into three categories: citrus, bittersweet and herbaceous. Traditionally most amaris are made using a base of grape brandy which is then infused with the botanicals, given a healthy dose of sugar and then put aside to age.

Meticulously crafted in a traditional method, Amaro Montenegro displays complex aromas and flavours that include orange peel, coriander, cherry and tea. After this, twelve mother essences are taken and synthesized into six tasting notes: bitter and herbaceous, spicy and floral, chocolate and caramel, fresh and balsamic, vanilla and red fruits, and warm and tropical.
