The moisture content of eco logs is less than 10%. This benefits the efficiency of a fire and helps it burn for longer. This is significantly less than dried out seasoned wood, which sits around 20% moisture. What are eco logs made from?In 2021, the UK government announced a ban on the sale of wet wood in units under 2m3. In other words, you are legally required to ensure that the wood you burn in your home fireplace has been sufficiently dried. In addition to our ultra-dry heat logs, our kiln-dried firewood has been dried to a moisture content of 20% or less and is another great option for your home fire. They have a high heat output, don’t produce much smoke, have a low moisture content and burn very efficiently.

Eco logs are now produced all over the world. So, if you’re in the UK, try and source locally made eco logs. Our heat logs are ultra-dry and are extremely easy to light. They have been dried to a moisture content of between 10% and 15%, ensuring they burn extremely well and emit less than 10g of smoke per hour. They’re also really popular because they’re really easy to light, and you don’t need to struggle for an eternity trying to get your fire started. When you build a fire with our heat logs and use one of our fire starters , you will have no issues igniting the perfect home fire this autumn or winter. If the heat log is claiming to be eco friendly, they should not contain any artificial chemicals, additives or fossil-fuel based materials. Heat logs may also contain peat, but if you are considering the environment, please don’t buy peat-containing logs.
