But not only that you get a look into his life growing up and as he moved through the ranks of Motorsport. Jenson Button is a British racing driver who has been in Formula 1 for seventeen years, appearing in 308 grand prix, the second most in history. And I loved the anecdote about the race when Jenson could not remember how to start the car - he was in pole position, too, so no pressure . Even I still miss seeing John at races, so I totally understand why, after his death, Jenson just didn't have the heart for it.

I still rate Jenson’s previous books “ My Championship Year” and “ Life to the Limit” as better than this latest one, only because the F1 content is less than the book’s title would suggest.I was lucky enough to spend a few hours with Jenson Button in 2013 when he was leading the FIA Formula1 World Championship. The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal. By the time he was old enough to sign his first professional contract he had already worked through the 10,000 hours that Malcolm Gladwell asserts is the requirement of excellence. I am unable to say that nobody reading it will ever be one of the elite chosen to drive the fast and furious Grand Prix circuits, for I am not that prescient. But Henson was wrong: it should have been him reading to fully invest what he is writing with a passion that only his all too distinctive voice could give.

En las reseñas decían que esta lectura era como sentarse a tomar un café con un amigo, confirmo, JB y yo ahora somos besties. Or maybe it was ignorant assumption because I knew from seeing it on TV and what I had read throughout the rest of this book that his dad liked a drink and a cigarette. How to be an F1 Driver will recreate the sights, sounds and smells of being in the cockpit travelling at over 200 miles per hour, the fear of death, what happens when it goes wrong at high speed and the euphoria of crossing the line in first.

How does it compare with Jenson’s previous “ My Championship Year” book on his 2009 championship season with Brawn GP? A very easy read due to the relaxed style, but no big revelations or deep anecdotes, seems like a missed opportunity. I've been a fan of F1 for years now, I started watching round about when Button hit his peak, so reading about his experience from his POV was interesting.
