Dalwhinnie Winter’s Gold will be available from August in supermarkets and specialist whisky shops s uch as

PERFECT FOR GIFTING - Beautifully presented, Cardhu Gold Reserve makes the perfect gift for any whisky lover Dalwhinnie is the highest and coldest distillery in Scotland, offering a combination of clean, easy-drinking, malty-sweet flavours with a smooth and smoky warmth So what about the rest of Diageo's classic malt whiskies? I have heard whispers that Lagavulin and Cragganmore are next in line to have no age statement whiskies added to their core ranges. Personally a NAS Lagavulin hopefully coming in with a lesser price tag than the Lagavulin 16 year old appeals to me, as young feisty peaty whisky can be very good. As I said, just a whisper and I am not one to spread rumours but watch this space. HOW TO ENJOY - From the highest and coldest distillery in Scotland, Winter’s Gold pays homage to its homeland and is best served straight from the freezerDalwhinnie Winter’s Gold is in the same vein as the 15 Year Old with aromas of flowers, honeyed with a hint of peat and green fruit – apples and fresh pear. Each sip is soft on the palate, with slightly warming honeyed fruit. The finish offers a soothing texture, as light floral notes mingle with soft fruits and just a touch of spice. Made using whisky distilled in the cold Scottish winter, it is intended to be served straight from the freezer, delivering richness and sweetness as the glass warms up. Master Blender has carefully selected casks to create a mouth-wateringly sweet malt whisky with a quietly spicy finish Dalwhinnie 15 years old Single Malt Whisky is a smooth, softly aromatic flavoured single malt with heather-honey sweetness and delicate spice KEY INGREDIENTS - This Dalwhinnie offers a combination of malty-sweet flavours with a smooth and smoky warmth PERFECT FOR GIFTING - The perfect gift for whisky lovers looking for a smooth, deliciously enjoyable single malt

The new whisky takes its "Winter's Gold" name tag from the fact that it only contains whisky which was distilled during the cold Scottish winters months between October and April.Paying homage to the environment in which it has been made, the distillery is suggesting you should serve the Dalwhinnie Winter’s Gold "frozen". I just couldn't bring myself to freeze the sample from Diageo and to be honest in my experience this only ever dulls the nose and flavour, it can be refreshing but personally I want the full unchilled flavour experience. Our ranking system The TopChoice.co.uk Team selects top-of-the-line items from a wide selection and conducts rigorous evaluations on almost all the products available on the internet. We rank each product based on how well it matches our criteria. Does this mark the end of the Dalwhinnie 15, Diageo has not said so and I very much doubt it but I would guess it will be less readily available in supermarkets, being replaced on the shelves by the new Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold much the same way as the Talisker Skye has been replacing the Talisker 10 on many supermarket shelves, but you will still find them all in the specialist whisky shops s uch as Diageo have added a new No Age Statement whisky to its Dalwhinnie core range, named Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold, it will start appearing on shelves from this month.
