Enter Gojo Satoru, the only person her clan doesn’t want her to marry and the only man she is willing to tie herself to for the rest of her life. The fury that came afterwards ripped her small cabin to shreds along with the surrounding woods, drowning everything within the vicinity in gold. I have raved about how good these books are and I was so excited to read the last instalment, but as I was reading I realised that there would be no more Ali, Nahri, Dara and Daevabad, that this was it and I almost didn’t want to finish it.

Unfortunately, Gojo was not able to kill Geto, too caught up in their friendship / history, and Geto got away.

There are choices in this novel – from both a plot and a character perspective – that I don’t necessarily agree with or particularly like. The Empire of Gold is the third book in the Daevabad Trilogy, and concludes the story of Nahri, Ali, and Dara. It was a traditional Japanese village, hidden somewhere deep within the wild forests of the Hokkaido Prefecture in Northern Japan.
