Whiskybase B.V. (“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”). Today, there are five official whisky regions, which are tied to scotch’s unique region of geographic indication allowing it to be a protected product in international trade through pacts with the European Union, the United States and most of the whisky-consuming world. But when the UK government updated the Scotch Whisky Regions in 2009, they discontinued a historical region — the Islands — and rolled it into the Highlands. The Oban Distillery is primarily known for its 14-year-old malt, which is marketed as part of Diageo's "Classic Malts Selection" range, launched in 1988. Also available is a "Distiller's Edition" bottling, which is finished in a Montilla Fino sherry cask before bottling. There is also an 18-year-old limited edition and a rare 32-year-old edition which is limited to 6000 bottles. A combination of rich sweetness with a smoky dryness and appetising spice distinguishes this lovingly-matured Highland malt.” Oban 14 Years price, ABV, age and other details Description: In the glass, Oban 14 is the color of amber, or polished mahogany with a red-brown hue. Established in 1794, it was built before the town of the same name, which sprang up later in the surrounding craggy harbour. This adds a ruby color, sweet character and luscious mouthfeel to its whisky. It is believed that the first settlers of the land where the distillery came to be, landed there in 5000 BC. At the time they sheltered themselves in natural cave formations known as an “Ob”. Such caves were all around the bay where the settlers pitched their tents, thus calling the town “Oban” which in Gaelic means “little bay” of caves.
