I would recommend that you read it earlier in pregnancy so you have time to practice the relaxation exercises and become familiar with the techniques. It can be taught over 1 day, but practitioners usually run sessions of 3×2 hours online (currently early 2022). It really has empowered both of us,to the point where most of our fears about birth have disappeared already. Part of hypnobirthing is being able to ask questions freely and to process any thoughts you have, and it’s much easier to do that in smaller group.
