It must be the dif between the North American and the UK experience, it seems to work for him and commend his for maintaining his focus at this demanding level. I do hope someone if not him gives us a well written and first had experience of how he got to be on top!

By the age of eight he was racing karts, at ten he drove to his first British championship, and at thirteen he was signed to the McLaren team. I liked the book back then as it gives us a glimpse into where Lewis came from and like the title says, his story. I like to think of my parents’ home as my power station, the place where I can go to seek support, rest and reassurance in the good things in life. Few 22-year-olds have achieved enough to warrant 290 pages of reminiscence, but Hamilton is the exeption.I felt proud of the team for the way they had worked through to the end of a really difficult, troubled year. One thing that comes across is his rawness as it was his first year, it is a very different Lewis to the multi champion of today. Vê-se um Lewis ainda muito jovem (22 anos), já tendo passado por incríveis altos e baixos na vida/carreira e ainda não tinha se sagrado campeão da F1.

He is talented, however, the book shows that before he became talented he did a lot of reps and years driving. I found I had a talent and I have worked as hard as possible to develop it so that I can be successful and in the process inspire others, if I can, to achieve a dream. He just never gives up and always puts 100 per cent effort into trying something even if he knows it’s too much for him. It is interesting reading about Lewis's feelings about his family, support he received and feelings about getting to Formula 1.He looks back in detail at the 2007 World Championship - the race wins, the frightening crash in Germany, his intense rivalry with team-mate Fernando Alonso, his special relationship with Ron Dennis, and the furore over the Ferrari allegations - right up to the dramatic last race of the season in Brazil.

He's an interesting racer, being the first black one in F1 but that doesn't really show in this book. It helps us remain as normal as possible, to stay focused on the right things and not be distracted by all the stuff going on around us. This is not a biography, nor this is a tell all book about the juicy gossipy parts of becoming an F1 driver. And the launch in Valencia on 15 January earlier in the year, when we did all the razzmatazz and had those huge crowds and did the ‘doughnuts’ in the streets…So much has happened since – and luckily for me, nearly all of it has been good.He looks back in detail at the 2007 World Championship – the race wins, the frightening crash in Germany, his intense rivalry with team-mate Fernando Alonso, his special relationship with Ron Dennis, and the furore over the Ferrari allegations – right up to the dramatic last race of the season in Brazil. The pressure, the expectation, the hunger and the humility are all articulated in this honest account. If you’re a Hamilton fan or even a Formula 1 fan I would recommend this as a light read with a few chuckles here and there.

I wouldn’t recommend it to the average reader since it’s more focused on his first year in F1 than an autobiography but as a fan, it was great to get an inside look into how Lewis was experiencing things at the time. At an early age, Lewis narrates his humble beginnings, the people who supported him all the way and his first year as an F1 driver. It summed up our unity at the end of a very trying season and I admit I enjoyed the opportunity to let my hair down a bit with my friends and team-mates. My mum is a huge and important part of my life and has always been there in the background wishing me success from afar.I may have been hit by mechanical problems, but I was beaten fair and square on the Interlagos track by Kimi and his Ferrari. The book started out well, the usual outlining of family life when growing up that you would expect from a sports auto biog and some interesting tales; largely his dad building his Kart in the shed as a surprise and his early karting adventures with his dad, meeting Ron Dennis at the Autosport Awards and then almost being dropped from the McLaren academy due to a dispute regarding which direction he took his then F3 career were all interesting. Nic was born two months early and it was a long time after his birth – I think nearly eighteen months – before he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
