The Self-Growth Workbook. How to use the book to develop specific strategies to live a more resilient life. Life is a journey from infinite possibilities when you’re born—you can be anything, do anything, go anywhere—to zero possibilities when you die. So I’m proposing the real game is just trying to mentally keep those options open as long as you can.

Like the farmer, we need to add a “We’ll see” when life blasts us up into the stratosphere or sends us screeching wildly into the ravine beside an icy road. The story that really stood out to me was the one from his scholarship donor that was apart of the Harvard School of Business, where he told Pasricha "Find small ponds so you can be the big fish." What an interesting perspective; and for a college student wanting a job in a business related field it was something I had never thought about. Of course we want to work for the biggest and best companies, but we are all competing for those jobs, where we wouldn't do much work. Why not take the risk and be the big fish in the small pond and bring a business up from bankruptcy. It's a difficult job but it was interesting advice. Whenever I read the fable of the farmer with one horse I sort of picture one of those inflatable clown punching bags that stands in the corner at a five-year-old’s birthday party.I give this book five stars! Actually star’s rating be so insufficient when it comes to Neil Pasricha, I give him all the universe for being the Sun, the light, the hope the happiness for so many of us in life with his extraordinary efforts in writing this book, what a book, seems a bible of happiness, a Google map of revisiting life! Thanks for yet another wonder Neil . . .” I was immediately drawn into You Are Awesome because of how relatable the writing is. Neil Pasricha is charismatic and resilient and the writing is conversational like you are talking with a good friend. After a speech I gave recently a breathless fifty-something ran up to me and asked a question that represented what I’m getting asked everywhere: We talk like this. And every time we do, we’re inserting periods on sentences that we might have kept going. When my grandparents had my mom, all these additional costs and burdens sunk in. It breaks my heart to think about my mom opening her newborn eyes, slowly soaking in the sea of faces in front of her, and what was the first thing she probably saw?

I mean my grandparents had seven kids before my mom was born. Four girls and three boys. As my mom and her sisters tell it, my grandparents were desperately hoping for a final boy to even their numbers out and give them a solid four-four split. Today we need to learn the skills the farmer had in spades. And we need to learn them fast. Volatility, uncertainty, and complexity are accelerating. Change? Constant. Latest disruption? Getting disrupted. Meanwhile we know relationships will always spin and swerve and and life always, always, always has other plans. No one knows ‘awesome’ like Neil Pasricha, and here he explores how we can make our very lives more awesome. With real-life stories and a conversational style, he shows how we can move forward in the face of challenge to make our days more intentional and joyful.”When a boy was born, friends and neighbors would say Badhaee ho! It meant wonderful, great, congratulations! And when a girl was born? Chalo koi nahi. What’s the translation? Keep going. Soldier on. Oh well – you have to keep moving. Would you fail your way to success? or remain a failure? There are so many people who fail at reaching success and that’s fine, but what’s not fine is if you don’t get up and keep moving forward. You Are Awesome by Neil Pasricha is filled with life-related stories, tips when hardship approaches, and secrets that Neil learned throughout his life. So, no matter how tough life can get, always remember you have a choice. Your mistakes are just steps to your successful future and it’s okay to lose sometimes. Hope you all enjoy my review of You Are Awesome by Neil Pasricha, thank you. Another challenge, another wrench, another kink in the garden hose, another place where it felt like the end of the sentence.
