The Z1 is definitely at its best when used in conjunction with Traktor DJ for iPad or iPhone. As long as the app is updated to the latest version, the device is pretty much 100% plug and play. Use the A and B buttons to select which channel you want to cue. The Cue Mix knob adjusts the ratio between cue signal and master output in your headphones. Cue Volume adjusts headphone cue volume.
