Description

The features and controls are fairly standard for a chorus pedal - depth and rate control the sound and speed of the chorus whilst E.level is an effects level, acting as a wet / dry mix. The CH-1 also includes an additional function in an EQ knob, which can give give a really strong, bright and shimmery chorus sound, whilst boosting the depth at the same time can create a sound verging on the edge of vibrato! The "analog-ness" of this pedal really shows through. For example, I can tell a big difference between this pedal and the CE-5 Chorus Ensemble, which I also really like. AC adaptor (PSA series: sold separately) Current Draw 55mA Expected battery life under continuous use Alkaline: Approx. 6.5 hours

A: The CH-1 has dual outputs so this pedal can be used in stereo. While it sounds great in mono (Output A alone), plugging Output B into a second amp increases the depth of the effect and vastly increases the breadth of your guitar tone. Although we admit that carrying two amps to gigs is pretty impractical, we definitely recommend trying this out for yourself! Tonally, the CE-3 sounded very similar to the CE-2, with the addition of a stereo mode selector that enabled switching between a panning chorus effect that emulates multiple guitars and a vibrato-style effect. Dimensional diversification Nominal Input Level -20 dBu Input Impedance 1 M ohm Nominal Output Level -20 dBu Output Impedance 1 k ohm Recommended Load Impedance 10 k ohms or greater Bypass Buffered bypass Controls DEPTH knob A: No. Although there’s a lot of true bypass hype these days, neither true nor buffered bypass is objectively better than the another. On account of a buffer’s ability to drive long cable runs and provide silent switching, Boss remains resolutely in the buffered camp.It has the same Rate and Depth controls and a bright red LED, and the finish matches the hue of the original baby blue paint. The CE-2W is even made in Japan and has a silver battery hatch screw just like the first version of the CE-2. Sales of the CE-1 were slow at first (mainly due to its high retail price) but soon increased as guitarists discovered that employing the pedal’s stereo output with multiple amps could create previously unheard atmospheric tones. About Boss Chorus Pedals

A: Since October 2001 all CH-1s produced have been digital. Amongst a wealth of reasons Boss made this change principally for reliability and consistency With Roland shifting the focus of its BOSS division towards a series of compact pedals in 1977, it was only a matter of time before their famous chorus sound was downsized. And in October 1979, the CE-2 was unveiled.

There are five presets which you can call up instantly, but this list expands to a lofty 127 if you use MIDI or connect the pedal to a computer running the Eventide Device Manager software. You can trust Guitar World Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing guitar products so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test.
