Description

With meltaguns they destroy armoured bunkers and with plasma guns they pose a threat to the heaviest enemy troops. While this Tac Op remains hidden until accomplished experienced players will often figure out you are using it by the end of Turning Point 2.

Legionnaires come with an interesting set of equipment with half their options being limited to one per team, and another four being one per team simply due to their usage requirements.

If you haven’t already figured this out, the Legionary operatives are utterly terrifying to face in combat. Any equipment marked with a + can be selected a maximum of once, and each operative can be equipped with no more than one of each item.

When you’re close enough to see the fear in the eyes of an enemy operative, it’s time to take the kid gloves off. Purchase this Requisition before or after a game, if your dataslate includes an operative of Ace rank or higher. In the Resolve Successful Hits step of a combat or shooting attack, if an attack dice inflicts damage on this operative, its Save characteristic is changed back to its normal characteristic for the rest of the battle. This vicious warband contains one Aspiring Champion and nine Legionaries, each of which can be equipped with a variety of weapons, heads, and accessories, or assembled as specialists for your Kill Team – including the Balefire Acolyte, Shrivetalon, Butcher, and more.

It is also important to note that the Blessing you choose to give your operative will also determine which ploys they will have access to. Allows operatives to move a maximum of 3 ⬤ in the same activation in which they perform a Shoot Action. You can’t really go wrong with the Undivided mark, especially for your leaders, since free double Fight or Shoot actions for everyone is amazing, but otherwise, the extra movement of a Slaanesh mark or the upgrade of a normal hit to a critical hit for combat from Khorne or for shooting from Tzeentch are great picks. The Chosen and Butcher are capable of killing their loyal brethren in two critical strikes, while Blessing of Tzeentch or Nurgle both have strong plays in this match up.

Sure, once you give control over to your daemon, you can no longer use your ‘strong hand’ to do such petty actions as shooting weapons or completing mission actions, but that’s a problem for the rest of your kill team. Aggression Stimulants [3 EP] One Per Team – Re-roll a single die when you fight in combat if you charged during the Turning Point. This is great for survivability, but since you’re already pretty durable, you might want to go for something with a larger potential damage output instead. While all the Chaos Blessings are good and come with no disadvantages in the shape of debuffs, be aware that, due to rivalries among the Chaos Gods, some Marks can’t coexist in the same Kill Team: Khorne-marked and Slaanesh-marked operatives are mutually exclusive, and the same goes for Nurgle-/Tzeentch-marked operatives. Its Double-handed Chain Axe looks like it has a pretty bad Weapon Skill of 4+, but its Vicious Blows Special Rule allows it to reroll 1s in combat if the Butcher is the attacker in that combat, and if you performed a Charge action in the same activation, it can reroll all of its attack dice. Perpetual Aggression on the other hand is a fantastic ploy that allows operatives to perform a free ■ move that may end within the Engagement range of enemies after they fight in combat. The Aspiring Champion is one of 2 leader options for the Legionary kill team, and it’s the one that most resembles other leaders in power armour: It has 13 wounds and a 3+ save. Which of the two loadouts you go for really depends on what you’re otherwise bringing in your Kill Team, but here’s the problem: there’s really no need to bring a Legionary Warrior in your Kill Team at all! If you’re new to the game, the Chaos Legionary Kill Team can be a really great kill team for learning what works and what doesn’t, since, unlike the other bespoke Kill Teams for the current edition of the game, you can build 4 more operatives from its kit than you can include in a Kill Team.

However, if you did not bring an Undivided Leader and therefore are less likely to use Malicious Volleys, the Missile Launcher is superior to the Reaper Chaincannon in most respects. Legionnaires are simply one of the best teams available in Kill Team both from a competitive and hobby standpoint. Additionally, you will find yourself at an extreme action penalty to compared to 12+ operative teams meaning abilities that increase action efficiency, such as your Champion and Mutability and Change, are in higher demand. The Shrivetalon comes with a bolt pistol much like his peers, but brings Flensing Blades as his close combat weapon of choice with 5 attacks, 3+ hit/wound, 3/5 damage, and Lethal 5+.

Some worship Khorne, the God of Rage, and charge roaring into battle whenever and against whomever they can – Khorne cares not from whence the blood flows, if it is spilled in his honour. Undivided operatives can use Hateful Assault or Malicious Volleys for free since they don’t get access to any of the God-specific Ploys, but those two are also pretty great if you’re getting them for free.
