Each character is well rounded and fleshed out, and readers found themselves thinking they knew people like these characters. Personally I’d like something more obscure, like archery or open-water swimming or Nordic combined. All of these books you fall in love with every single person.. except the woman who shall not be named.. Eliza: I have a hard time thinking about reading Tamsen Parker books since she wrote about Orthodox Jewish characters experimenting with BDSM, which is terrible representation IMO. I keep thinking I should give her a shot since I’ve heard good things and her books sound good, but somehow that always gets in my way.

Two childhood friends. Two broken hearts. One impromptu road trip to get away from everything. That’s all this was supposed to be. Afterall, I’ve been living in the friend zone for years now.I don’t want to wait because I don’t want a life where you’re not in it. My world only spins so beautifully because of the way you’ve opened my heart and made me feel like myself again. I” I gather that you got your start in fan fiction and/or on Wattpad and there’s a sense here of that feels-based episodic story common to those platforms.

But you’re gonna do it with me, at my house, together.” His searing stare swings my way. “I refuse to let you push me away again.” It was so cute how he fell head over heels for Olivia, and his inexperience in dating/committed relationships created some hilarious moments.Don’t cry, beautiful.” “I’m so sorry.” She gasps, swiping at her cheeks, turning her face away. “Hey.” Hooking a finger under her chin, I force her gaze to mine. “Your tears are not a weakness, so stop trying to hide them. Don’t be sorry for showing me how you feel. Being vulnerable with each other is how we learn to be the best versions of ourselves as partners. When you show me the type of love you need, I learn how to give it to you.” What are you most afraid of?” “Falling,” she answers quietly and without hesitation. My thumb skates across her lower lip. “I’ll catch you.” “Promise?” Bringing her to me, I sear her with a kiss that feels every bit like a future I never knew I wanted. “Promise.” Do me a favor,” Emmett says as we head into the bar in the lobby. It’s rammed and rowdy and I kinda don’t want to be here. “Remember how it looks to be surrounded by girls who throw themselves at you. Doing nothing isn’t enough. You have to actively do anything but nothing.” My mom always told me that these things don’t come easily, that you have to work for the love and the life you want. The hard parts are challenging, but we get through them, and everything else with you feels natural, and I… I want to work with you. I want to build a life we love.”

It’s a good story but not great for me. Quite a lot I felt it was dragging and it took me awhile to finish it. I don’t think I will continue with the rest of the series, at least not now. Right.” I honestly couldn’t feel more dense right now. How is it that I need to have this explained to me at twenty-seven? Either way, I’m thankful for his warning, because the second we sit, a girl throws herself in my lap. An archery romance might be cool but I have zero interest in a novel-length romance focused on long-distance swimming (and swimming was my favorite sport when I was a kid!) or nordic combined. I barely remember what nordic combined is, LOL. However if it was an anthology of short stories or novellas and the author(s) were good, I would read them. But I could easily see past a not-so-great ending because the rest of this book worked so well. And everything was so freaking corny! I ADORED it 🥰 She’s like…waking up on Christmas morning when you’re three years old and you finally understand what it’s all about. She’s the moment the rain stops and the sun comes out, lighting up the sky with color, and everything smells new and fresh. She’s the first skate on a frozen lake, surrounded by snowy mountains and pine trees and the freshest breath of air. She’s rolling over in the middle of the night, pulling that warm body into yours and curling around it, and everything’s just right.”

Rose: Regarding the Miranda Keneally books, I don’t think of YA novels as romances, even when the romance is what the plot centers on. The primary focus of YA thematically speaking is coming of age rather than finding true love. That makes the priorities of the authors different. The desirability of a central male character doesn’t always have to be stressed to the same degree in a YA (it’s not always a big part of what the reader will zero in on), and even when it does, it’s usually not framed in a “marriage material” / “eligible bachelor” way, so how popular a sport played by a main character who is also an athlete is, or how much money that character earns from their sporting career is isn’t as crucial either, unless that’s a primary focus of the plot. It’s also a book which is all about the feels. Id reading at its height. For some that’s a plus for others, maybe not so much. All I’m doing when I’m away from you is counting down the minutes until we can be together again. There is no other option for me than a life with you. I know it’s soon, but I don’t need time to tell me what I already know, that a forever with you can’t come soon enough. Be my forever. Officially, because forever is all you’ve ever been to me. So… marry me, Ollie girl. Say yes.” Hey! Hi! Olivia!” He’s yelling; I don’t know if he realizes. “G-good,” he sputters. “You look good!” Still yelling. He slams the fridge door and drops his elbow to the countertop, nearly missing his chin when he tries to prop it up in his palm. ~ Especially the scenes around Valentine's were probably my favorite! The card was hilarious, and (w/o context) the "paint me like one of your french girls" part made me fall in love with this guy even more!

Authors, if you are a member of the Goodreads Author Program, you can edit information about your own books. Find out how in this guide. Janine: Sarina Bowen’s Gravity trilogy has a skier and several snowboarders. Miranda Kenneally’s YA books feature characters involved in all sorts of sports – football, softball, distance running, horse racing – though most are not at an elite level. I’m not a mission, nor am I looking to be the next girl pictured in the news getting down and dirty with Captain Syphilis over there.” DiscoDollyDeb: That’s an excellent point and probably true as well; since the population of the US is bigger than that of Canada, American readership probably is too. However I think that as with many things, there is more than one factor at work here.

He’s arrogant, self-centered, and the man doesn’t seem to know what a filter is, let alone how to use one. He’s had everything served to him on a silver platter, including endless strings of women, and apparently, I’m up next. Demanding? That’s because I am. I refuse to be without you. Absolutely refuse, because that’s the last place either of us belongs. You’re mine. My best friend and my lover, my only version of forever, and I don’t intend on ever letting you go. My only intention is to legally bind you to me for the rest of our lives.”
