The book says that Rainbow Fish grew more and more delighted as he gave away his scales. Is this true in all cases? If not, give examples. From the attractive illustrations with shiny accents, to the uplifting message of sharing and friendship, this is an absolutely beautiful book and is a joy to read. There is also a Spanish language edition of The Rainbow Fish, El Pez Arco Iris, as well as bilingual editions in English paired with Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Italian, Russian, and Vietnamese. [4] This glittery collection is five of the better Rainbow Fish books, all collected in one anniversary volume – the fish was thirty in 2022, hence this celebratory compilation. It certainly gave me a chance to catch up with the series, not having had much experience of it before now. A little blue fish swam along behind him. \"Rainbow Fish, wait for me! I remember reading the book The Rainbow Fish a long time ago and I enjoyed it. This book however has several other Rainbow Fish stories within this one book. This is a beautiful book with illustrations that provides good life lessons for young children. Look at the illustrations showing the fish’s scales. Can you make your own tessellations that look like fish scales? This one may seem pretty obvious, however, it doesn't always happen. When you read this story, you can reinforce their knowledge and then grasp that they understand these concepts through text-dependent questions. This can be done by either creating those questions and answering them on paper or through discussion.

That's not, by any stretch of the imagination, a good lesson for kids. I can see what the author was going for (sharing is good, generosity feels wonderful) but he chose a poor vehicle for that moral, and the result is a book I'm planning to drastically rewrite before sharing with my son again. Original questions and guidelines for philosophical discussion archived here. Revised August 2020 by The Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics. And it's also important that you teach your children that, in life, they are entitled. If someone has something more - then it is okay to expect that they give it to you. In fact, you should shun them if they don't. If you work hard and have much - please remember you must share it all. Even if you don't want to. Don't expect to be liked just for your personality. You must give everything you have to ensure that you are liked.

Give away my scales? My beautiful glittering scales? “ thought Rainbow Fish, horrified. \"Never! No. How could I be happy without them?\"

The Rainbow Fish leaves the octopus behind and, on his return to the colony, happens upon the blue fish who asked for scales in the first place. Despite the Rainbow Fish’s earlier refusal, blue fish just doesn’t get it and asks again with language that sounds like classic manipulative language to me: “Rainbow Fish, please don’t be angry. I just want one little scale.” The rainbow fish with its iridescent scales is the most beautiful fish in the whole ocean. But since he is also vain and proud, he becomes more and more lonely over time. Then he realizes that you can’t win friends through beauty. He overcomes his pride and begins to distribute his glitter scales to the other fish.
