Description

How exactly does the Hs8 perform like a pair of studio monitors? Let’s see if the price carries its weight! Build and Design In addition to concerns with room design, you’ll also need to consider where your subwoofer will go. Again, just dropping it any old place will not necessarily give you the results you’re looking for.

You might have to do more fussing and fiddling with settings to get things just right, but thankfully this should be minimal. Why? Because theYamahaHS8Sfeatures an internal crossoverthat handles most of the technical stuff automatically. It “keeps” the frequencies that it can handle and passes the rest off to your studio monitors. Whether those monitors are HS monitors or something else, the process works pretty much the same way. Pricing and Availability All you need to do to start using aYamahaHS8Sis route those existing monitor OUT lines into your new subwoofer’s inputs. Then, using a second set of XLR cables, route from the subwoofer’s outputs to your monitors’ inputs, right to right and left to left. Yamaha is usually a very trusted name but you still have to be able to be a savvy consumer and take a look at what makes a product worth buying. You get everything from a low-cut switch to both low and high-cut controls with response controls that accommodate detailed settings. You can limp by without one if you have really great active monitors but in most cases you do not realize what you have really been missing until you hear it, then you have an ah ha moment and realize that you have not been truly hearing music or your mixes without it.

Though placement is a necessary part of your monitors, you don’t have to worry about it as much with the Hs8. Of course, it’s still best to know what’s good for your space, so measure out your studio. The Yamaha HS8S is an 8" bass-reflex powered subwoofer that is the ideal low-end support for the HS-Series monitors. The Yamaha HS-Series have the inherited universal mix-translation legacy and distinctive white cones of the industry-respected NS-10's, designed to deliver your mixes with transparent honesty. Room control and frequency response switches allow custom tailoring of the monitor's response to give you accurate performance in any environment. As mentioned earlier, the goal is CLARITY. These are built to give you a clean and crisp listening experience for professional mixing. Excellent high-end and low-end response. Both your bass and frequency response will be at their peak form! There’s nothing like a pair of these in your control room. Yamaha’s HS Series of studio monitors is the go-to choice for many, many at-home musicians for their impressive balance of power, clarity and price. Simply put, aside from the HS Series, you’ll have a hard time getting this good a response at anywhere near these prices.Sound is really clear and sharp. Nothing feels overpowered, there is a good frequency balance and it feels flat indeed. The compatible subwoofer itself deserves a whole different review, but I can also say it’s worth the price if you need to use it! Yamaha engineers have designed and produced new transducers for this latest range that deliver exceptionally clear, natural and detailed sound. The new transducers deploy Yamaha's advanced magnetic field design to more efficiently regulate the flow of magnetic response, contributing significantly to the purity of the sound. Frequency Range: This frequency range means that every single detail will be reproduced giving you an accurate audio image. Speaker response can vary greatly depending on the size, shape, and surface acoustics of the room in which they're used, as well as how they're placed within that environment. The HS-Series gives you extra room-matching and speaker placement versatility with ROOM CONTROL, MID EQ, and HIGH TRIM response control switches that are specifically designed to compensate for common acoustic deficiencies and monitoring needs. The ROOM CONTROL switch, for example, can be used to compensate for the unnatural low-end exaggeration that usually occurs when speakers are placed close to walls or in corners. The MID EQ switch gives you subtle midrange boost and cut options in addition to flat response, while the HIGH TRIM switch offer the same type of response-tailoring capability for the high frequencies. Specification

Yamaha certainly has and the HS7 is the latest addition to the HS Series, slotting size-wise in between the HS8 and the HS5. This series of active monitors has been designed and priced specifically for home studios. A 150-watt active subwoofer designated the HS8S has also been added to the line-up, so we’re pleased to be testing that along with a pair of the HS7s.The Phase switch on your sub should probably be set to NORM (normal). However, if you’re getting a strange result, try switching it to REV (reverse), which reverses the phase.

Bass response is sharp, spectre seems very flat, they are not boosted at all in any kind of way. It really helped me master the album I was working on for half a year, as soon as I got them. It was impossible to do it with my headphones. It is a simple look very boxy but it is innocuous which is what you want your equipment to be, you do not want the speakers to be center stage. It has a simple but very effective design.
