Description

Mixto, on the other hand, starts with a blend of agave juice and other sugarsglucose or fructose, or bothusually in the form of a sugar syrup. Mixtos were invented as a way to stretch the supply of agave and lower production costs. By law, they must be 51% agave. Most of us drank more than enough of this stuff in college. Jimador Blanco Tequila is a solid and well-made distillate that has been around since 1897 and ranks among the worlds most popular tequilas. This is not a handmade product or anything particularly valuable, but it is a discrete tequila that does not let you down and is clean and precise from a technical point of view.

The Añejo is undisputedly a paragon of sipping tequilas, while the Blanco is a great shooter and mixer. Lastly, the Reposado represents an intelligent compromise between the two. A very slight - but not unpleasant - bitterness/sourness comes through, less so when warmed up somewhat; this is coupled with a slightly diminished continuation of the initial taste, albeit without the fruit. There is a hint of wood in there, with some obvious cooked agave - you can taste the 'cookedness' (struggling to put this into words) of it. There's some mild spice in there too, although I don't find the cinnamon that others have. I do get the butterscotchiness though; it's a very smooth feel. I particularly like the branding here. the label is as small and unobtrusive as possible, wrapping around near the base and leaving the majority of the surface area completely clear and transparent. This might not be quite as important with a blanco tequila as it would with an aged version, but it does help to consumers see the quality and the clarity of the product inside the bottle. As with all Herradura tequila, this starts as a crop of blue agave plants which are harvested and have their leaves removed. What remains is the tough and fibrous core of the plant, which is cooked in an oven to convert those fibers into sugar. The plants are then crushed to release the fluid, and that fluid is fermented to convert the sugar into alcohol. At this point, it is distilled three times to create the new blanco tequila.

El Jimador Reposado is naturally fermented and double distilled. It is aged for two months in American oak barrels before bottling. What El Jimador Reposado Tequila Tastes Like Nose El Jimador Añejo spends an entire year ageing in American oak barrels, lending it an unrivalled soft and sweet taste, plus a rich dark amber colour. This tequila is rich, full-bodied, and can make any occasion special. On The Nose I've no idea how this compares to the mixto version (which I have no desire to try unless by some miracle it is actually better than this), but I can say that it walks all over the other mixtos I've tried. Like other El Jimador tequilas, Blanco uses only pure Weber blue agave. These notes are present throughout the spirit and are joined on the nose with fresh citrus, vegetal, and light wood aromas. On The Palate The brand was the seventh-biggest-selling Tequila in the world, according to The Brand Champions 2023 report. It sold 1.7 million nine-litre cases last year, an increase of 21.4%.

How Much Is El Jimador Tequila

It is a good tequila for its price. The aromas and flavors of this spirit have quite the same level of complexity, making it a delicious and affordable tequila. Would We Buy It Again? In 1994, the company introduced a new brand of tequila designed to offer a premium experience at a reasonable and approachable price point. Named for the workers in the field who cultivate the agave plants (called “jimadores”) El Jimador remains a 100% blue agave based spirit produced to this day. This Reposado impresses with notes of vanilla, baked apple, cinnamon, fresh agave, and oak. On The Palate El Jimador Reposado is the company’s take on this classic, best-of-both-worlds tequila style, aged in American oak barrels for two months. It impresses with a smooth golden colour and an even smoother taste. Short, peppery, some heat - but very little compared to e.g. DJ anejo - a mild numbess and a very distant, well-distributed but not overpowering alcohol burn. There's some wood there, and - interestingly - the agave and fruitiness from the initial return for a second finish a few seconds later!

El Jimador Reposado Tequila has an average rating of 7 out of 52 votes. 3/10. I really enjoy it, it is smooth. We love El Jimador Reposado Tequila because of its agave, vanilla, woodsy and fruity notes. Made in Herradura, it is careful distilled and adored for its price and taste. era El Jimador is a Lowlands spirit, unaged and named in honor of the jimador, a Mexican agave harvester. Theres modest pepper on the nose, with red chiles, lemon, coconut, and roasted meats. The body is a little all over the place, with notes of chile oil, grilled pineapple, more lemon, and a sultry agave/herbal character on the finish. Theres quite a bit of that funky meat character on the finish, but its not overwhelming or pungent.

The alcohol taste welcomed our palate as we savor the tequila, but it is mellowed by sweet oak, light citrus, caramel, vanilla, and light cinnamon flavors mingling around. Looking to boost its presence off the lower tier of tequilas , venerable El Jimador, the #1 selling 100% agave tequila in Mexico, is revamping its image with a new bottle design. The new look is sleeker and considerably more upscale but what of the tequila within?

El Jimador tequila has some medicinal and alcoholic hints upfront but is mellowed by sweet vanilla. Adding ice might help smoothen a few rough notes for our second drink. Second Chance Fresh agave and citrus upfront that is soon warmed by spices and sweet vanilla and cinnamon mid-palate. A hint of hazelnuts follows while the vegetal note is well-balanced and earthy with a moreish heated finish of agave, oak and spice. Best ServedUsually, a little bit of ice is a death sentence for flavors that are too light or not well saturated enough to stand up to those harsh conditions. And, sadly, that’s exactly what is going on here. The producer uses 100% Blue Weber agave for its range of Tequilas, which includes blanco, reposado and añejo. Sweet, very fruity - there's almost a hint of either strawberry or cherry in there somewhere. There's this kind of buttery smoothness over everything that continues throughout the whole experience. VERY pleasant. The medicinal and other harsh notes are present on the palate. Although it is bearable, sometimes, the mouthfeel has a prominent bitter and light vegetal hint.
