IMPORTANT: Leave long yarn tails (12″– 18″ depending on the size of the doll) when you cast on or when you cut yarns. These will be used for sewing up the dolls. Pull the yarn tail at the top of the head that was slipped through the stitches. By pulling it tightly, you will gather the top of the doll’s head. The knit head should be wrinkle free. If you have wrinkles around the top of the head, try adding a little more stuffing. When satisfied, tie it off. Note: On the larger dolls you might create a “hole” in the top of the head. If so, simply sew the hole closed by making little stitches across the hole. Stitch the arm to the doll. Since young children might decide to chew on an arm, I always double sew an arm on for extra safety. Worked in DK knitting yarn, you could easily change the colors you use or use up leftover DK yarns that you already have in your stash. This is a great way to personalize the design if you knitting for a child. Why not change the hair, skin and eye colors to match the little one you are knitting for? A softie doll that is both whimsical to look at and make. The English translation is very clear which is a pleasant surprise, thanks to Katharina.

Every little girl loves a ballerina doll and perhaps even dreams of being one herself one day! Knit this pretty ballerina to make a perfect gift for your little princess. It will be one of a kind present, you will not find in shops! Did we really catch your attention when we started talking about knitting an entire doll as a project, rather than just knitting a dress or an accessory for a doll? Well, we can’t say we blame you, because that’s actually one of the most fun projects we’ve ever done, if we’re being fully honest with you! We were really big fans of this adorable Betsy doll because not only was she a blast to knit herself, but her pattern also comes with the stitch instructions for making her a cute little bunny friend. Imagine how excited our kids were when they saw that we’d not only knit them a doll, but also knit a doll for their doll! See the full pattern in more detail on Love Knitting. 2. Collared baby onesie with matching hat and booties Dress up the dolls you have in some shabby chic knit dresses with this pattern. These are so cute with really nice detailing, so you can make multiple little cuties in all your favorite colors. It would be perfect if you made those in colors matching with the favorite outfits of the doll’s little caretaker, so they can both twin and slay! If you did like this roundup, be sure to take a look at our toy knitting pattern section to find even more patterns to make, like knitted animals and more! The easiest dolls are knit one leg at a time, then joined to knit the body and the head all as one piece. The arms are knie separately and joined to the body. These are great for beginners, especially if they are knit flat, as several of the dolls in our pattern collection are. This free knitting pattern is for aEar Warmerheadbandfor a Tiny Tears or similar sized 16" Doll. These ear warmers take the form of the wide hairbands which are currently popular with Skiers. This free knitting pattern is simple to make and suitable for anyone new to knitting as the shaping is done by changing needle size rather than shaping the work itself. A unique but festive idea — if you want to make something different this season, try this knitted doll inspired by a Christmas tree. You can decorate your doll with small ornaments for Christmas tree, buttons and embroidery, but if you make the doll for young kids use only embroidery for decoration and embroider the eyes.

If you’re going to knit your children some stylish doll’s dresses, would you rather make them something a little funkier and more unique looking than what you’ve seen in stores? After all, playing pretend with their dolls is a great time to get more creative in their clothing choices than just working with store bought options that mimc the same regular outfits they might find in their own shopping section. That’s why we thought this funny little ruffled dress, knit partially with mohair just for a cool change in texture, was such a cute idea! No childhood is complete without a classic doll to play with, which is why it’s my favorite toy to knit. There’s just so much scope when it comes to making a doll — you can control the hair color, outfits, and expression of your creation, making the process all the more fun.Get the free PDF pattern for Knubbelchen at Ravelry. With two small nieces and girls of my own, a handmade doll or two are sure to be a winner. Thread the end through a yarn needle.
