The last set of results we're going to look at are for Cyberpunk 2077 and here the 6600 XT was 9% faster using the high quality settings at 1080p. Both GPUs are best suited to 1080p gaming in this title as the slightly dialed down quality settings saw just 44 fps rendered on average at 1440p. Performance Summary AMD offers some upscaling techniques for 6600 XT owners and more plans are in the works to head off the DLSS threat, but for now DLSS is the best option. Then there's ray tracing, which is yet another strength of the RTX 3060. As we saw in the titles that use this rendering technique, the GeForce GPU had a clear performance advantage thanks to its more mature implementation.

Enabling DLSS reduced the performance hit to just 29%. But even without it, the 3060 Ti was 150% faster than the 6600 XT with ray tracing enabled, so we're not sure the word 'brutal' really conveys just how much of a smashing that really is. Next up we have Red Dead Redemption 2. We're using "high" quality settings which have to be set manually as this game doesn't have fixed presets which is super annoying. Anyway, at 1080p the 6600 XT was 9% faster than the RTX 3060, so a decent little win there, but at 1440p performance is much the same, and then exactly the same at 4K.You're also looking at an increase of 100 watts for the total system with the 3060 Ti. So in terms of efficiency the 6600 XT is very good. Ray Tracing Where the Radeon 6600 XT does shine is when looking at power consumption. In our test with Doom at 1440p, it used no more power than the older 5600 XT and yet it managed to deliver 23% more performance. Watch Dogs: Legion is another game where the 6600 XT proves its essentially a 5700 XT in terms of performance. With 72 fps on average, it found itself situated between the RTX 3060 Ti and 3060 at 1080p, but that meant it was 18% slower than the 6700 XT, which isn't a bad result. Next we have Call of Duty Warzone, where the 6600 XT was quite a bit faster than the RTX 3060, delivering 21% more frames at 1080p and 16% more at 1440p. A strong win for the Radeon GPU, though keep in mind it was also meant to cost 15% more based on the original MSRP. Worse still, the 1440p results favor the cheaper RTX 3060 and now it's able to match the 6600 XT while the 3060 Ti was 23% faster! It does appear as though AMD's competing quite poorly with Nvidia's Ampere lineup at this price point.

Do not misunderstand arguments about AMD and nVidia being scummy. You should be aware you have to complain and not buy products at bad price points or they'll just continue to push the limit, because that's what they do. In Dirt 5, the RX 6600 XT is 16% faster than the RTX 3060, and in the original Metro Exodus, it has a 15% lead at 1080p. However, the AMD graphics card is basically tied with the RTX 3060 in Final Fantasy XIV and Horizon Zero Dawn – which isn't a good look with its price difference. With only 8GB of VRAM, the GPU can only work on one ETH DAG at a time anyway, so narrowing the bus to 128bits shouldn't hurt too much. A good chunk of the reason why 12GB GPUs have a significant hash rate advantage is because they can work on two DAGs at a time while 16GB ones can do three and extra memory channels help with that concurrency. We'll have our own independent testing and analysis of the RX 6600 XT later, but the card looks promising. Again, we can't stress enough the importance of getting enough cards to market—something neither AMD nor Nvidia have been able to do since last summer. We don't expect that to change, but AMD does seem to have more RX 6700 XT cards for sale than it has RX 6800, RX 6800 XT, and RX 6900 XT combined. Hopefully, that means it will have even more RX 6600 XT cards—it should, since Navi 23 should be a smaller chip that costs less to produce.Today we'll be taking real-world pricing data and comparing it across a much larger 30 game sample to see which GPU offers gamers the most value. We'll also take a look at ray tracing performance in the new F1 2021, along with Metro Exodus Enhanced which is a follow-on from the Cyberpunk 2077, Doom Eternal, Resident Evil Village, and Watch Dogs Legion results which were featured in the original review.

If you're confused by the 3060 Ti pricing, it is very close to the 3070 Ti after all, that's because the demand for the 3070 Ti from miners is lower as all 3070 Ti models are 'Lite Hash Rate' and therefore aren't as efficient for cryptocurrency mining.I like the decision to lower memory bus width to 128 bits. It lowers mining performance without affecting gaming performance, and can't be undone like Nvidia's software-based solution. Using our updated Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark pass we find close results in this highly demanding title. Please note ray tracing has not been enabled and we're also not using the highest quality preset, instead, settling for the second-highest option. Performance Summary These are good questions, though the most important question will be how many GPUs AMD can manufacture and get to the market. There's plenty of evidence that Nvidia currently outsells AMD by a ratio of at least 10-to-1 (based on the latest Steam Hardware Survey, as well as our GPU pricing index data), and that could boil down to production capacity. RX 6600 XT performance won't matter much if gamers can't go out and buy the card. For a bottle of water, you usually pay less than a Dollar. Now, in the desert, with the next station being 500 miles away, you would pay even 10 Dollars (or 100?) for a bottle of water if you are thirsty. Pair your AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT GPU with the world's largest selection ecosystem of adaptive sync gaming monitors, those equipped with either Radeon FreeSync™ or Radeon FreeSync™ 2 HDR-enabled monitors for stutter-free, tear-free, and artifact-free super-smooth gaming.

Next we have Metro Exodus Enhanced and this version of the game requires ray traced accelerated hardware, so ray tracing effects are enabled by default and for testing these mid-range GPUs we've gone with the 'normal' setting. In fact, with the highest level of ray tracing enabled at 1080p, the 3060 Ti was good for 97 fps on average while the 6600 XT struggled with just 45 fps. Then with DLSS it was possible to boost performance up to 143 fps, so another ray tracing bloodbath here. Jumping to 1440p doesn't change the picture all that much. We're still looking at 5700 XT-like performance, which is also close to the 3060 Ti in this title. Featuring the breakthrough AMD RDNA™ 2 architecture, engineered to deliver the ultimate 1080p gaming experience.

As far as ports, you're getting three DisplayPort outputs and one HDMI 2.1 port. So, while this graphics card is definitely aimed at 1080p gaming, it is capable of outputting 8K video at 60Hz. Just don't go expecting to play games at that resolution. Then we have the Nvidia sponsored Watch Dogs Legion and no surprises, the 6600 XT gets dominated and is unable to deliver playable performance, dropping from an impressive 118 fps without ray tracing to just 36 fps using the medium quality settings. PCI Express Testing Starting with the 1080p data, we see that the 6600 XT was 3% faster on average, meaning they're basically identical overall across a wide range of games as we deem anything within 5% a draw. That means for 20 of the 50 games tested performance was near enough to "identical" with margins 4% or less. Not expecting much out of this one.Given no graphics cards are restricted by the PCI-E 3 x16 bandwidth, PCI-E 4 support offers no advantage. F1 2020 is another game where the 6600 XT is close to overkill at 1080p, rendering 163 fps on average using the highest in-game quality settings. That saw it trail the 3060 Ti by a 6% margin while besting the standard 3060 by a 12% margin, though at the end of the day you could just call it a 5700 XT.
