I am not a regular macro shooter but I don’t know once I have the lens. I have interest in moving to the Z system but it’s not in the immediate budget :) For the possibility of using it on Z occasionally, or for other purposes where AF is required, I am now leaning towards the Sigma.

Sigma lenses are popular due to their ease of use, portability and the sharp results which they capture, with a variety of focal widths to choose from. These enable photographers to choose between wide aperture prime lenses for portraits, street and documentary, or versatile zooms which cover ultra wide, standard and telephoto focal widths.I also have to give a lot of credit to the Laowa 100mm f/2.8. It has a unique optical design that goes to 2× magnification rather than 1×, yet it still manages to be either the sharpest or second-sharpest lens of these six. Bravo to Venus Optics (the company behind Laowa) for however they managed to achieve that. Bokeh and Out-of-Focus Color Fringing Many of our closeup lenses feature 1:1 magnification and a minimum focusing distance of ten inches or under, making these some of the most sought-after lenses for wildlife and product macro shooters. Of the four non-apochromatic lenses, I’m partial to the Tamron’s bokeh, while I find the Tokina’s bokeh to be the least pleasant; it’s a bit too busy and has some obvious rings around the out-of-focus specular highlights. But bokeh preferences are subjective, so I recommend looking closely at the images for yourself to figure out which ones you prefer. I don’t consider AF as critical for this project because manual focus would only have to be done each time the camera is turned on and can shoot few rolls at a time. So, I was leaning towards the Loawa first due to its better IQ. It will be difficult to use the lens for other purposes though.

This is the world's only zoom true macro lens, but more expensive used than the 105 VR new. It's that good. Use it when you need to reframe moving macro subjects rapidly; otherwise, get the 200mm f/4 AF-D instead.

All of these macro lenses are super-sharp and free from distortion. Any half-decent macro lens is extraordinary for use as a normal or telephoto lens for general photography —but here I'm discussing which lenses are best for serious macro shooting. As you can see, most “1:1” macro lenses can focus meaningfully closer than that. (In the image above, an exact 1:1 magnification lens would capture 36mm of the ruler.) The biggest surprise is the Nikon F 105mm f/2.8 VR, for which I measured a maximum magnification of 1.09×, AKA 1.09:1 magnification. You can also see the huge increase in magnification with a 2:1 macro lens like the Laowa. If you won't spring for the Nikon 200mm f/4 AF-D or Canon 180mm f/3.5 L, this Tokina is as good optically as Nikon's or Canon's 100mm and 105mm lenses.

Macro Filters work well if you have a subject – like postage stamps or badges – that you regularly photograph and have a standard set up to work with.Macro means large, and in photography, a macro lens is one which brings objects very close and into sharp focus. A macro lens makes small objects or parts of objects much bigger on the camera sensor. Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS – the premier Sony macro lens, is an investment lens like its full-frame Nikon and Canon counterparts.

And because the 58mm threads are no longer available, the lens cap no longer fits - the hood must be removed to install the cap or a 58mm filter.Full-frame, 1.3x and and APS-C coverage, 72mm metal filter thread, 37.3oz./1,057g lens only, 41.4oz./1,173g with collar, 1:1 1.5'/0.48m close focus.
