Description

Heavy hip thrusting is brutal on the hips. While some lifters can tolerate hip thrusting without any padding, most will find the lift excruciatingly painful if padding isn’t used. Even worse is that pain will shut down muscle activation and prevent the glutes from receiving an optimal training stimulus. Conversely, the position assumed during a glute bridge will require more input from your hamstrings and calves to thrust your hips upwards. Hip Thrust Equipment Let’s start with the most obvious and common reason why many people use barbell pads. The hip thrust is extremely beneficial, yet it causes serious bruising. The barbell hip thrust is a great exercise that you should be practicing regularly, but that doesn't mean you should neglect all the other variations! Other hip thrust variations, like single-leg hip thrusts, can help challenge your muscles in different ways. For example, single-leg hip thrusts isolate one side of your body thus not only challenging your muscles but also your balance and stability. This variation is more difficult, so you should start with your bodyweight, then move on to using a dumbbell before moving forward with a barbell. There are various ways to secure or attach the pad to a barbell. The choice here depends mainly on the weight you’ll lift rather than opting for a hassle-free design.

Although they’re a must-have when you are training your hips, barbell pads are usually quite versatile and can be used for different workout exercises. But as awesome as the exercise is, there is that stainless-steel or chrome barbell being loaded up right by your private parts. Similarly, the flatter hip thrust pads, like the one made by Rogue, is a great pad that can be used for stretching. Although not particularly designed for it, I love using mine for padding my knee when doing kneeling hip flexor stretches. There are a couple of other side benefits as well, including added bar stability (less rolling of the barbell) and protecting your clothes from the knurling on barbells.Although ProFitness might take a little longer to attach to barbells, the straps ensure an extreme level of barbell stability to reduce the risk of sliding off to a minimum. However, most of these solutions are technically inferior to a barbell hip thrust foam pad because they don’t offer the same level of comfort that these pads have, as they’re usually clumpy and much thinner when rolled around a barbell. While gymgoers are understandably torn on the benefits of using this kind of pad for barbell squats, when it comes to hip thrusts, there’s no question that they will help you lift more weight more safely.

Therefore make sure that your barbell pad has straps or a strong velcro that safely secures the pad to the bar. This will ensure that it doesn't move around during your training.' 4. Ergonomic design

I also feel it when the hip area gets stretched, like in a lunge or RFESS (resting leg) and a little bit if i squat below parallel.
