Description

I mention it only because I feel if I alter anything in someone’s recipe, I feel it is only polite to say so! This delicious, vibrant Caribbean-influenced cookbook from the bestselling duo behind Original Flava includes over 100 easy recipes. There's lots of interesting recipes for plantains, a squash wellington that I've never seen before, some porridge bowls, and more! Rasta Pumpkin Pasta was the first recipe we tried from this book, which I picked up because I'd seen it reviewed in the newspaper.

But the recipe I’m sharing with you today, because it would be an act of unspeakable cruelty not to, is for the Rum-Roasted Potatoes. Some recipes just say to "cook the ingredients" while others actually provide temperatures, but those temperatures are sometimes in Fahrenheit and sometimes say "Gas 3" or "Gas 6" etc. Essentially Jamaican cooking without salt, meat, or additives, Ital is just as tasty but with the power to promote overall health and wellness. Anyhow if you have been looking for a very accessible plant-based Caribbean cookbook to complement your Bryant Terry collection, this is fab and doesn't go over the same territory (this is more like a pure UK Caribbean with way less cajun influence etc). Special thanks to netgalley and the publishers for a arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Rastafari is an expression of unity with all things, and the Ital diet reflects that through a sense of peace and togetherness with the natural world. Some of the recipes are veganised versions of predominantly Jamaican classics; others are Caribbean-inflected reworkings of foods they love and have grown up eating. Craig and Shaun McAnuff are all about maximum flava, and these are recipes that are filling and flava-ful, and just happen to be vegan too. Welcome to our Caribbean vegan fusion series bringing you Caribbean infusion flavour from around the world.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, Bloomsbury Publishing plc for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.Think Potato and chickpea curry with roti, Jerk cauliflower wings, Coconut, black-eyed pea and sweet potato stew, and Plantain cookies . While I am no sun-worshipper, I do find the gloomy greyness of a long British winter slightly less than cheering.
