The author’s way of being and the book Grounded, really resonated with me, and Grounded came along at a point when my spirits needed lifting. Day-to-day I enjoy small adventures close to home and can be found biking, swimming, running and kayaking in the beautiful UK uplands with The Little Blue Camper Van.

It is clearly written with love, compassion and clarity by someone with a deep understanding of the subject. And then there's combat, which could be best described as more function than form; a perfunctory means to an end (that end being resource harvesting) rather than an enjoyable experience in and of itself.It features Warham in Norfolk, Linsey in Suffolk and Alphamstone in Essex in its journey around the UK and beyond. Grounded opens up the sacred spaces of the past and shows us how amongst the frenzy of the modern world we can find spaces of quiet reflection and learn to stop and slow down.

The desire to explore trumps every instinct to follow simple instructions, and whilst you'll soon learn that you can drop a lean-to pretty much anywhere to sleep out the night, remembering things like feeding and hydrating yourself can become mild annoyances. That, and the fact they hiss if you stray too close; it's a dreadful sound, almost as bad as the big boys in Animal Crossing: New Horizons… and that's saying something. It feels like it has in some small way opened something up within me that has been closed off for a long time; I am very thankful to Ruth for writing such a healing and transformative guide to connecting with nature!It has received a sell-out audience at Kendal Mountain Literature Festival, as well as being featured at Bradford Lit Fest.

I watched a video ‘Here’ featuring the author, and was so pleased to see that she had released a book. There is history and meaning encoded into the lands and places we live in, if only we take the time to look. Grounded: A Journey into the Landscapes of Ancestors explores the history of communities and their relationships with the landscape around them. It will encourage you to take your first steps to self reliance – because this is more easily achievable than you had ever imagined.

There is a way to unlock all recipes for free at the start of the game (although the menu that sits in doesn't seem to be working at the time of writing this), but honestly, discovering these things on your own by analysing absolutely every item you come across is an absolute delight. The text is so beautifully written, the sentences slide almost effortlessly like silk from eyes to brain and yet they contain much knowledge, depth and wisdom. SAGE Knowledge is the premier social sciences platform for SAGE and CQ Press book, reference and video content. The overall effect was to slow down my reading and linger over the message rather than race on to the next page. What a beautiful book this is; honest, uplifting, practical, and full of inspiring projects which I cannot wait to try in our own back garden.
