Description

These wax crayons are perfect for general colouring activities, art projects and freehand drawing. Some of the benefits of using wax crayons are that they can be used on a variety of paper types and surfaces, they are much more durable than other styles of crayons and the smooth texture of these wax crayons provides a sensory experience for children as they draw and colour in. Our range of wax crayons includes Giotto Super Wax Crayons and Metallic Wax Crayons. I then let the paint dry and mixed up the paint for the “paper part” of the crayon. To get this color “right” I simply took the crayon wax color and added some white paint to make the same color just a lot lighter! 🙂 Be sure that you have enough contrast between the crayon wax color and the paper so that it looks right!

Before painting the paper, I used washi tape to tape off the top and bottom portion – I taped off about 2″ from the top rim (under the cardboard triangle top) and about 1.5″ from the bottom of the crayon. This gave me the length of the paper to paint! 🙂 Retail and Brand Promotions: What better way to highlight creativity and color in a store selling art supplies or children’s products? Before the grandeur of the colossal crayon sweeps us off our feet, let’s recall the modest journey of the crayon itself. Originating from the Latin word “creta,” meaning clay, early crayons were a mix of chalk and clay. Over time, with the introduction of paraffin wax and pigments, the modern crayon found its way into every artist’s toolbox and every child’s schoolbag. Endless Imagination: Its exaggerated dimensions resonate with the idea of boundless creativity and dreams without limits. Nostalgia: For many, it’s a vivid reminder of childhood days filled with doodles, sketches, and innocent joys.

Material Matters: Light, durable materials such as foam, plastic, or fiberglass are typically employed to ensure longevity and ease of transport. Isn’t it pretty? Your own giant crayon you can use for about a million different things! As a former teacher, I can see these as awesome classroom decorations hanging from the ceiling, in a library, on a wall, as props for class plays and performances, or used for individual photos with students. Measure and cut the fadeless art paper so that it starts and ends a couple of inches away from the crayon top and bottom. Use a glue gun to adhere the paper to the mailing tube.Educational Settings: Schools and institutions use them as centerpieces for art events, exhibitions, or to mark special occasions.

Cut out the main piece for the giant crayon from poster board or Canson paper. You will need to cut two pieces measuring 22″ x 5″. Glue them together, overlapping one piece by 5.5″. Art Galleries & Museums: Often, these crayons serve as thought-provoking installations challenging perspectives on childhood, creativity, and scale. I chose to have my art students hold a mini-competition to name the crayons their new color names! 🙂

How To Make Large Paper Crayon Decor

Film & Television: Need a dreamy, whimsical, or surreal scene? The giant crayon becomes the prop of choice. Step 3. Now it’s time to glue! You’ll need a very strong glue- my favorite is e6000. Place some glue along the inside rim of the mailing tube lid, then place the painted cone inside the lid over the glue and press down hard for a few seconds. Highlighting Art: In a world dominated by digital media, it’s a gentle, grand reminder of the pleasures of hands-on artistic endeavors. I tried to spray paint first and I didn’t love the way it looked (too shiny and not evenly coated, etc) so I switched to acrylic paint and LOVED way more!
