James explains in his Acknowledgements that "Retired Detective Chief Superintendent David Gaylor of Sussex CID" is his inspiration for protagonist Roy Grace.

For LA producer Larry Brooker, this is the movie that could bring the fortune that has so long eluded him. I understand that this is a commonly used ploy to help delineate character but used to this extent it was off putting. A Twist of the Knife is Peter James’s gripping first full-length collection of short stories, including the novellas The Perfect Murder, Footloose written with Val McDermid and In The Nick of Time written with Ian Rankin. This is not intended to be a full statement of all your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations. Carly Chase is still traumatised after being in a fatal traffic accident which kills a teenage student from Brighton University. All of our books are 100% brand new, unread and purchased directly from the publishers in bulk allowing us to pass the huge savings on to you!

At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. Soon Grace comes to the frightening realization that he may have underestimated just how dangerous this lady is. Set in present day Brighton, these books follow the life of Detective Superintendent Grace, we first met him aged 39 and we soon discover that his wife Sandy disappeared almost 10 years previously, the same day as Roy’s 30th Birthday. Enter Roy Grace and his sidekick, the dapper Glenn Branson, who already have their hands full with a torso discovered in the sewers of a chicken farm: foul play indeed. When a mutilated torso is found on a chicken farm miles away in the countryside, Roy Grace has no reason at all to connect this to the star’s visit to the county. It was a place that belonged to someone’s imagination, someone who tried to escape from the nastiness of the world into the labyrinth of beauty inside his head. For some readers, it may be a little disconcerting to find the fictitious Grace discussing case notes with actual serving Police colleagues. The first half of the book was the usual setting the scene with various characters, main plot and sub plots. I don't like novels that get into the cult of celebrity anyway but could have stood this one if the rest of the book hadn't been so poorly written. But there was one thing the estate agents didn’t mention; nobody in Cold Hill House ever survived beyond forty .

An obsessed stalker is after Gaia – and Grace knows that they may be at large in his city, waiting, watching, planning . Several characters were involved in various threads, and to begin with it took some remembering who was who. Actually there were so fanatics that it helps keep the reader guessing which one might be the ultimate baddy. Frankly, I’m looking forward to meeting Roy Grace on screen, because he doesn’t come across vividly on the page.Niall and Eden Paternoster start their Sunday the same way they always do – with a long drive, a visit to a country house and a quick stop at the local supermarket on the way home. The 147 chapters (some less than a page) approximate an unfolding sequence of scenes in a gripping telemovie, which builds to a climax in the banquet room of the Royal Pavilion – a great setting. An unidentifiable torso has turned up on Keith Winter’s chicken farm, and vicious gangster Amis Smallbone, whom Grace put away 12 years ago, has been released from prison bent on vengeance. On the one side we have the security and attempted murder of Gaia and on the other we have a torso found which the Murder team are trying to identify. One of the villains of the story plans to kill Gaia and a few other famous actors by making the Dragon Chandelier collapse onto them during the filming of a crucial scene in the Banqueting Room.
