More transparent sources such as the THX 789 surely provide an enjoyable experience, you won’t have to worry about a lack of attack or body. That being said, the shells look slightly more compact, especially when you compare it to the very first Andromeda model. Once you remove the CA sticker on the rear of the box, the outer packaging would unfold and reveal the inner box which includes all the belongings. And that’s a great thing: it’s nice to know now, from first-hand experience, that in the universe of the Andromedas, I’m not missing out by not having the MW10.

The sound staging of both is very similar in style, but I feel that ES takes it a bit further, offering quieter background and more air.Thanks to Campfire Audio for providing Andromeda 2020 in exchange for an honest impression/feedback. But when I heard that Campfire was releasing a new and improved Andromeda in 2020, I sighed and shook my head in annoyance. Rather, it’s just another variant (albeit a very good variant), with its own pluses and minuses, in the (legendary? I think we all agree that manufacturers could either gift the review sample to the reviewer, or demand them back. Regardless of how the Andromeda sounds, I can definitely say this is one heck of a premium unboxing experience.

The 2020 Andro is just as source sensitive as its predecessor which isn’t much of a surprise given that the changes to sound aren’t due to any major rework to the drivers or crossover.Andromeda 2020 is a salute to all Andromeda fans as well as being a perfect upgrade pathway for those obsessed with the sound signature of the original Andromeda but nowhere interested in losing any bit of the Andromeda charms! Going back to the mids, some vocals could drive me crazy on top of the treble being extended (Grace Jones), while others were just fine.

While it is excellent for musicians and studio engineers, it doesn’t have the qualities that I expect from audiophile IEM. I was a bit skeptical of a flat wire at first, but thanks to its soft and pliable jacket it is very comfy in everyday use. It beats the Ara’s bass to my ears which was never that much better than the 2020 to me despite the extra penises. Metal and modern rock often don’t make good use of the Andromeda’s strengths in staging and layering while well produced pop, instrumentals, and classic rock sound excellent. And it might not be a day and night difference in how the reviewer rates it, but he may decide, consciously or unconsciously, to say more positive things or overlook negative things because the manufacturer was so generous to them.The Andromeda is a W-shaped monitor that portrays an engaging, well-contrasted presentation imbued with a full-bodied character that retains strong coherence. The Andro is fuller and warmer throughout, equally quick, however, as the EST-6 is cleaner in its tuning, it is afforded slightly higher definition and separation. The upper mids has been elevated compared to the original Andromeda to a level such that vocals have clarity and aren’t totally buried.

At the moment, I’ve got my iPhone 4s set to a volume of 3 (out of 16) and am in my quiet office listening to folk music. It also has a warm bass, with a little more mid-bass focus, the Andro being a bit more linear but also fuller yet. The base of the IEM is a set of five balanced armatures: two for low frequencies, one midrange, and two for high frequencies. I wish the manufacturers would not do this, but change is going to have to be driven by the reviewers or the readers.The mid-bass is also a touch warm but it isn’t as full or warm through the upper-bass and lower-midrange so the voicing is cleaner.
