A few years ago, while riding a small motorcycle through Nicaragua, the Tilopa was filled with gear on my back when out of nowhere I hit a sand patch and got tossed over my bike. This is a bag I’ll continue to use on my travels as it is versatile, can be configured in several ways, and it really looks great.

I haven’t been in a downpour with it yet, but F-Stop has covered the bag in DWR so it should be resistant to a slight drizzle. It is clearly stronger (and I have broken one of the plastic buckles before) but it has taken some getting used to and although it is growing on me, is still a bit slow to use. A good example of this is if carry both your camera and a drone around with you, you may have a different ICU for each, if you just want to shoot some drone footage, you could take that ICU out and have all your drone gear in one small bag. The Tilopa comes complete with expandable side pockets, allowing for even more storage than it already has!I have never had a camera bag which was ‘light’, I always carry a lot of gear, especially when travelling, I ensure that I have redundancy in my gear, and for this reason, I always carry a minimum of 2 camera bodies (Sometimes 3 if I am shooting a lot of timelapse). Depending on the airline you’re flying with, the Tilopa might be larger than the maximum carry-on requirements. Having a bag that you can carry your camera fully set up in makes life a lot easier and production shoots faster.The ICU that I was given by F-stop was their large variant but they sell different sized ICUs to fit different needs.
