Editorial independence means being able to give an unbiased verdict about a product or company, with the avoidance of conflicts of interest. We’re told these features are in “the early stages of development”, but for now it’s probably better to give them a wide berth. It does this by quickly flickering between two color states, giving the impression of another, third color between the two. This cookie is a performance cookie used for internal Bazaarvoice web analytics, to be correlated to the same user for interactions within a particular client domain. Flick to the Dolby Vision version on Disney+ and the level of detail in the shadows and darkest parts is much improved, so you’ll want to be viewing as much Dolby Vision content to mitigate this issue.

Plus, we have Freeview Play available with all the UK catch-up services all in one place with their own dedicated page and service. When Ultra Smooth Motion is used, we encountered Soap Opera Effect (SOE) with the interpolation modes and, depending on the level of interpolation used, we also noticed more image artefacts with fast-moving objects breaking up at the edges as the system attempted to keep up with creating new frames with fast motion. A smart 4K QLED TV with Quantum Dot technology, the Hisense A7G packs in Dolby Vision HDR, Dolby Atmos surround sound and a 60Hz refresh rate. This TV is better suited to normal living room viewing conditions with some ambient lighting, or bias lighting, where these issues are not as noticeable. Viewing angles are not a strong point on the Hisense and as soon as you get over 20 degrees off-axis colour and gamma start to drift noticeably. Complexions are warmly expressed (perhaps overcooked in some places) but it makes for an attention-grabbing image.

Ideally, you should be sat almost directly on to the U7QF to get the best image quality on offer from this TV.

The app selection is focused rather than bountiful; Netflix has pride of place on the top row and all the UK catch-up apps are covered (as Freeview Play), with Disney+ and Britbox available also. The TV also features the same X-Fusion technology found in the 100L9G-DLT100 for over 25000 hours of entertainment. The feature set of the A7G is improved from previous generations, with the addition of gaming features positioning the Hisense as a cheaper alternative to the likes of LG and Samsung in that area. Assembly is easy and, like before, there’s a cable clutter system to route cables through the protruding ‘feet’ of the stand for a tidier area.

The stand supports the TV well, just like it did on the older model, but it takes up a lot of space. With some content, it was easy to make out the lighter sides and bottom edge when sitting directly on.

But overall, for normal living room duties, it has a decent enough speaker set up and of course, you can add a more powerful off-boardmulti-channel system at any time. The lack of absolute contrast is more obvious when viewing in dim surroundings and black crush is also more noticeable with tricky scenes, like the opening of John Wick: Chapter 3, where backgrounds lose shadow detail in the darker parts of the image.Look a little deeper, though, and the 55A7GQ actually has quite a bit more going on than mere bang for your buck. AppNexus sets the anj cookie that contains data stating whether a cookie ID is synced with partners. Rounding-up on the performance side of things is the gaming capabilities of the U7QF which are decent, with input lag coming in at 17ms in both SDR and HDR modes as measured by the Murideo Seven Generator.
