Quick update, the gray (but once-cream) rug has now had 2 goings over with this cleaner (using the same detergent as was supplied) and we couldn't believe the difference. Assembly is quite easy but do expect to do a bit of twisting and pushing to get the handle in the correct position for the screw. I would reccomend to everybody with a carpet, even if it doesnt show the dirt as you will be surprised what comes out.

I now absolutely hate this Bissell cleaner with a passion and wish I had gone with my first choice of the Vax Pet Upright version. When we did remove them it revealed parts full of a black sticky mess that cannot be got to following the cleaning guide that comes with the machine or be seen and this is what has caused the dirty water to drip out down the sides which has ruined my white and cream carpets !This cleaner is really hard to keep clean, you cannot clean the tank properly or the bladder I’ve had to try and poke a bottle brush down the sides and use a straw brush on the removable front suction. Once with the cleaning liquid on, and then three or four more slow back-and-forths to suck up the liquid.

I also do an occasional clean with just water in the tank to stop a buildup of cleaning solution in the rug. I finally got it all put together and filled with water (Very easy lift out tank) and used the detergent provided to go over some stained areas on a browny gray carpet that I had used the vax rapide carpet cleaner on just 5 days ago. You put the cleaning solution in the top and the membrane swells out into the tank to accommodate it.

e don’t be suckered into paying a premium for a product with unnecessary features and likewise don’t be fooled into what appears to be a bargain but actually doesn’t do the job you need it to do. It’s usually on the lower back or bottom of the machine (for Lift-Off® models, remove the Lift-Off pod to find label) or behind the cleaning tanks .
