After writing the book, Simon sent it to an agent who initially was interested in it, but the agent straight out rejected the story. It is written in short punchy chapters and packed with twists including one major jaw dropping twist at the end. So with some nudges from his wife, he kept sending that manuscript to other agents across the country after rewriting a few chapters and polishing the book a bit more. Kernick had a passion for crime fiction writing from a young age and produced many short stories during his time at polytechnic. It took me about 10 minutes to read and finished at 47%, with the rest of the file being a preview of the new book.

The book also includes the first chapter from Simon Kernick`s newest thriller The Bone Field which is published on the 17th of January 2017.The only person Ray trusts is ex-cop and former lover Tina Boyd who's keen to settle her own scores with Sheridan.

Even though Relentless was produced several years ago and still maintains its place, in my mind, as Simon Kernick’s top work, he has shown a constant improvement in his story telling ability.Although it is a short story, I really liked the format of the chapter changes entitles him and her. I really enjoyed this short story and after reading this I would be tempted to pick up a full length novel by Kernick, the best thing about this was it is currently on kindle for free. I really liked the beginning of this and the style of writing but it ended very abruptly and is more an introduction to a character than a short story. In terms of writing, he has a basic storyline plotted out, although sometimes he plots out each chapter, and then everything else is fleshed out while writing. Many of his books deal with ordinary people put in strange and dangerous situations that they can’t control.
