Description

Sunspots are regions on the Sun's visible surface, or "photosphere," where gases have been trapped by magnetic fields. The hotter material bubbling up from the Sun's interior cannot penetrate the strong magnetic fields (about 10,000 times stronger than Earth's), and thus are prevented from reaching the surface. These magnetic areas are cooler (about 6,700 degrees Fahrenheit (3,750 C)) than the rest of the photosphere so they don't glow as brightly. Sunspots are actually quite bright, but appear as dark spots against their much brighter surroundings.

What I find most exciting, however, is who else Nico and Will might come across in the Underworld. Since they’re going to Tartarus, the list is fairly limited (at least when it comes to people they want to see), but if the two end up in other areas of the Underworld, they could visit some fallen demigods from the past. Jason Grace would be the main attraction, of course, as his death is the most recent and Nico has ties to him from the Heroes of Olympus series, but we might also stumble across his sister, Bianca, or even his mother, Maria. Nico also has a connection to Daedalus, which would not only be an interesting cameo but also a clever ally to have by their side.

In other news, puppy alert! One of our staff members is now training a service dog, and while I could not pet him while he had his vest on, I was allowed to take a picture.

Over those five billion years, the sun will go from “yellow dwarf” to “ red giant.” When almost all of the hydrogen in the sun’s core has been consumed, the core will contract and heat up, increasing the amount of nuclear fusion that takes place. The outer layers of the sun will expand from this extra energy. One of my favourite things while reading was the fact their relationship was not perfect. They had their sweet, tender, fluffy moments that made me smile and gush. But they also had their struggles. Which is understandable. I mean, two kids who’ve been through three wars and enough trauma to last a lifetime won’t have it easy. Throughout the book, they both have their own struggles and issues. Nico doesn’t open up a lot and Will is a little close-minded about Nico’s life, and both of these tend to upset the other. Although the tops of the thermal columns look like small granules, they are usually more than 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) across. Most thermal columns exist for about eight to 20 minutes before they dissolve and form new columns. There are also “supergranules” that can be up to 30,000 kilometers (18,641 miles) across, and last for up to 24 hours. Nyx had potential - I liked the idea of her wanting Nico to bathe in darkness and be darkness and seeing herself as a mother figure to him but again.... children. THEIR children. Below the STR, the layers of the sun are controlled and stay separate because of gravity, gas pressure, and the different processes of exchanging energy. Above the STR, the motion and shape of the layers are much more dynamic. They are dominated by magnetic forces. These magnetic forces can put into action solar events such as coronal loops and the solar wind.English scientist Sir Isaac Newton used a telescope and prism to scatter the light of the sun, and proved that sunlight was actually made of a spectrum of colors. I hope this book haven't ruined my feelings for The House of Hades in my next re-read. & now I don't know if I want to jump into one of Heroes of Olympus books to wash it all away, or just wait until I forget this one! both!
