There are actually TWO Dr. Faucis in this book. We leave it as an exercise for the diligent student to figure out who the second one is.) Dr. Volumnia Gaul - Head Gamemaker and the person responsible for the implementation of the Hunger Games. She has a twisted view of human nature and believes in an authoritarian government and the need for punishment and control over the Districts. She is indirectly responsible for Snow’s descent into deceit and authority. Hated by many people of all districts, she is a cruel woman with little to no regard for human life. Not everyone fears snakes. Some love snakes, just like the main character Ali in The Girl Who Wore Snakes. This is a book for children who love and respect snakes and is also a great book for those who fear them. It’s a reassuring book that snakes are beautiful and deserve our respect just like any other animal. Kali and the Rat SnakebyZai Whitaker, illustrated by Srividya Natarajan There are many different books about snakes and it’s important to consider whether you want a general snake book or a more detailed species guide.

This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. :) I love scary stuff and it's even better when the "monster" is something real. This could so easily happen too. I also wasn’t a fan of the Church that was involved. I understood why, what with the evil symbolism of the snake and how the Church worked to get people amped up, but overall, until the ending it was a distraction. This snake book includes 131 species — all of the species known in the U.S. and Canadian at the publication date. It includes information about geographic variation, distribution, and even known fossils in North America. It also contains detailed profiles and excellent photos of the snakes which help you identify which snake you’re staring down on your front porch. In an almost textbook-style thoroughness, this book sends you on a deep dive into the world of snakes. It also includes detailed range maps, reproduction, and other behavioral traits. Strabo Plinth - Sejanus' father. He is the head of a munitions empire in District 2 that sided with the Capitol during the war, thus allowing him to buy his family's way into a new life in the Capitol. At the end of the novel, he sponsors Coriolanus and names him his heir. Coriolanus pays a visit to Dean Highbottom at the Academy. There he learns that, while Highbottom did indeed come up with the Hunger Games, he never intended for them to become a reality. While he and Coriolanus's father, Crassus, were classmates and friends at the University, they got drunk one night and Highbottom told Crassus of his idea for the Games, but as a simple, theoretical experiment. Seeking to gain favor, Crassus took the idea and submitted it to Dr. Gaul, who decided to make the Games a reality after the war. Since then, Highbottom never forgave Crassus for this and adds that he sees much of Crassus' deceitful, manipulative nature in his son. Thoroughly tired of Highbottom's obstructive actions and antagonism towards him, Coriolanus slips rat poison into Highbottom's drug stash, marking the first of the trademark killings that would fuel his rise to power. In the meantime, Coriolanus implements many of his ideas into future Hunger Games as a Gamemaker. All footage from the 10th Hunger Games is permanently erased and, having either died or successfully escaped the country of Panem, Lucy Gray is never seen or heard from again.Freedgood was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York in 1913 and began writing at a young age. In the 1940s, he had several articles and short stories published in Cosmopolitan , Collier's, Esquire and other magazines while working full time in the motion picture industry in New York City. A WWII U.S.Army veteran he held public relations and publicity posts for United Artists, 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures and other companies for several years before focusing on his writing. The main protagonist was a whining wimp in my opinion. I also found the amount of great sex he was having to be lazy on Godey's part. Converse is a boy in a man's body, not a man, and it's hard for such a boy to carry a story. Sorry not sorry, I have to put this on the list for this cover alone, I mean COME ON. Ninth House is one of the most anticipated books of the year, and rightfully so. It’s the first adult fantasy book by the dazzlingly-talented Leigh Bardugo, and tells the story ofGalaxy “Alex” Stern. Alex is the sole survivor of a multiple homicide, and while in the hospital, is offered a chance to attend Yale University on a full ride. Of course, there’s a catch: Alex must monitor Yale’s famoussecret societies. There is already fan art of this book, and some of it features snakes, so… It also gets a little silly with the way it parcels out snake facts in huge info dumps but it at least tries to give a reason for that (press conference, etc)

The Book of Snakes: A Life-Size Guide to Six Hundred Species

D'Alessandro, Anthony (May 31, 2022). "Rachel Zegler To Play Lucy Gray Baird In Lionsgate's 'The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes' ". I wanted this little creep dead the minute I laid eyes on him -- just like his miserable little descendant, Dr. Fauci. The problem is Morton brought him in as a sort of hero. Worst of all, you've got a religious cult telling anyone who will listen that the wayward mamba is Satan incarnate. Against such evil, only their fearless leader can save us. (When he's not too busy committing financial crimes downtown.) This middle grade book explores grief and death while artfully balancing humor. Twelve-year-old Josh’s mother died in a car crash brought on by a snake being in the car. Josh and his family are bewildered. How did the snake get there? How do they move on? Josh is left to find his own answers. Young Adult Snake Books A Crown of Wishes (The Star-Touched Queen #2) byRoshani Chokshi What I didn’t like: I’d say my biggest annoyance here was the love story that seemed to be tossed in between our herpetologist and a reporter. Godey tried to give it some ‘meant to be’ sub plot but it was incredibly weak and when the two characters were together the dialogue was brutal and laughable.

The Best Books About Snakes Around the World FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

All by themselves, snakes terrify people but add fangs and venom into the mix, and you’ve got a fearsome animal — the stuff of nightmares for some people. Yet, they’re mostly a misunderstood bunch. They’re not typically aggressive and would much rather avoid you than have a confrontation. None of the world’s snakes are out to get you, humans are not on their dietary menu, and a little knowledge goes a long way toward building respect for the “spicy noodles” of the world. This book includes information on over 100 species, including rare and endangered snakes. It contains an introduction to snake biology, evolution, and anatomy and dispels myths and misconceptions with scientific facts (no, that snake probably can’t eat you). Plus, it’s organized by region, making it easy to find the snake you’re seeking. It also features stunning photography, and when you combine it with O’Shea’s personal experiences with some of the world’s biggest snakes, you get more than just an encyclopedia of snakes: it’s an adventure. Pros and Cons of Boas and Pythons of the World by Mark O’Shea Pros I read this MANY years ago when I was still in high school. I remember the cover was a patch of grass with a path made by a snake.
