Father’s Day is coming up and while it can be difficult to figure out what colour of tie to get for Dad for Father’s Day, a hand made card is always going to be a hit. ThisDIY Father’s Day Watermelon Card is the perfect way to show Dad that he is ONE IN A MELON! So punny, just like Dad! Brush the undersides of the warm sandwich sponges with watermelon syrup, then cool completely. Place 1 sponge, top-side down, on a cake board. Spread with one third of the red buttercream and sprinkle over one third of the remaining chocolate chips. Place the second sponge on top, top-side down, and repeat. Add the third sponge and repeat again. Set the hemisphere sponge on top and gently press down so the cake holds together. Chill for 20 minutes to firm up. Aim forfour to six fruits on a greenhouse plant and up to four on an outdoor plant, which is usually the maximum number that will ripen by the end of the season. Use a hole punch in the tags after printing and cutting and then use a ribbon or twine to attach the tags to your melon gift. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. My friend Kimberly gave me her cake recipe and it turned out pretty good. This was my first completely homemade cake and icing.
