Description

The book is about friendship but it is also about overcoming fear to find your true self. It is about trying out new things and then deciding whether it is worth it or not. It is about being brave in the true face of adversity. It is about truly finding happiness when you have someone to share it with. I like the book because Logan tries to be brave for his friend and even though he is scared he went to explore the world. I liked Logan because he overcomes his fear in the end. I also loved the illustrations because they are very colorful and felt very real. When Logan saw the wolf, he hid behind a tree and didn’t feel very brave. Can you do something brave but not feel brave?

Questions for Philosophical Discussion

Red Rover, Red Rover! Games from an Irish Childhood (That You Can Teach Your Kids) — Kunak McGann (The O’Brien Press) A Little Bit Brave by Nicola Kinnear raises issues about bravery, adventures, and friendships. Luna the bunny tells Logan the bunny that sometimes he needs to be “a little bit brave” and leaves for outside. Even though Logan is very scared, he goes out to find Luna. Logan has to demonstrate bravery throughout the story as he goes on his adventure outside. This raises the question of what it means to be brave. Students can consider what bravery looks like and discuss if they have to feel brave to be brave.
