John Lasseter, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton, and Brad Bird have all produced films with their own particular sensibilities while staying true to the Pixar spirit, whatever that may be. Europe's busiest forums, with independent news and expert reviews, for TVs, Home Cinema, Hi-Fi, Movies, Gaming, Tech and more. It is fun to watch the footage, but when a character, from the film, makes an appearance at the end of the short, it sort of gives away the real origin of this footage. His passion is literally incredible and the enthusiasm he brings is commendable - he's just a big kid, really, with endless pranks and wisecracks punctuating the mind-boggling complexities of bringing an animated movie to the screen. A nice eight-page insert is included that has a map of the DVD set, descriptions of some of the special features and the chapter stops.

Bought this recently after reading all the reviews concerning the difference between the UK and US versions and finding quite a lot of extras were missing in the UK version. Although championed by John Lasseter, Bird's arrival was looked on askance by Disney executives and Pixar staff alike as he set about constructing something new. As a result, 'supers' are forced to live among the populace incognito, shunned by the society they once protected. Now, he's going through a super-midlife crisis, missing his days as someone special; someone who made a difference.

The blu-ray discs work fine and that is the reason I bought this set in the first place, so I have no problem that the DVD doesn't work in my machine. A commentary by Luckey fills in all the background info behind the short, while a featurette, "Who is Bud Luckey? A great film that really takes the whats-it out of the ninteen-sixties Bond movies crossed with a gentle jab at the super hero flicks too. While Bird's penchant to continually name the animators while also apologizing for not naming every single animator grows a little tiresome (this is, after all, a running commentary, not an Oscar acceptance speech), his enthusiasm and insight make up for the occasional lulls into congratulatory chatter. He soon discovers that it will take a super family effort to rescue the world from total destruction.

And for all this vigour, dialogue never suffers either - always clear and sharp and impeccably directed. Find a better reproduced animated film (or perhaps any kind of film) than The Incredibles, and you have done something truly special. The technology is, of course, the focus, with new heights in animation reached, but the story remains just as important in the end. Times are tough and cynical in Metroville and it's hard for a super hero to get credit where credit is due.

Bird knows how to play the two sides of a story off each other to create a story that both enthralls and evokes feelings. The first features Bird and producer John Walker, which covers the overall experience of making the film.

It doesnt make any difference this time whether u get this from UK or the US/CAN, like previously to other Pixar titles, which were better qualtiy wise in the R2 edits. Bird takes several jabs, including some juicy commentary on domestic life ("It's not graduation, he's moving from the fourth to fifth grade! If you took all of the scenes of the family in suburbia and made a film simply of those, the result would be a great stand alone addition to any comedy library. Included are very well done audio clips of interviews with the individual supers that are finely detailed, right down to the background noise of crowds or radio static. The greys of suburbia and Bob's daily grind are captured with claustrophobic precision, making you champ at the bit for the colour to arrive.
