Cozy Case Files Volume 8 (By: M.C. Beaton,Diane Kelly,Vivien Chien,Paige Shelton,SusanCox,Elizabeth Penney,Mindy Quigley) While Samson and Delilah combine resources once more, before too long they have become embroiled in untangling this mystery which has lain at the town’s core for decades. It is a mystery that some would much prefer stay buried.

Delilah decides to consider others for the office space and eventually decides that Samson O’Brien would make as good a tenant as any. So with him moved in, things are actually looking up. She’s confident that this is a great move that is going to help her make some money and finally start getting those ends to meet. Oblivious to his impending date with fate, Samson is busy juggling a number of cases at the Dales Detective Agency. Too busy, in fact, to notice his partner behaving oddly. This was a great read and is definitely cosy crime with a very hard centre. All of the elements of a standard cosy crime novel are present in this latest instalment of the Dales Detective. We have a close knit community with a colourful cast of supporting characters who stay just the right side of stereotypes, there is the local coffee shop where gossip is exchanged and the amateur detective who is struggling to keep her agency going. However, although the crimes initially seem minor, we soon find that something very serious is going on in the Dales and the book has some very dark scenes. In the eighth novel in the Dales Detective series, Date with Evil , Samson and Delilah are about to discover that all of their new cases may be connected to a network of evil that seems to be surrounding Bruncliffe. Will they solve them all before the danger comes directly to their door? Because Delilah Metcalfe knows what is coming. A hitman. Sent from London with one objective: to finally silence the troublesome O’Brien before his corruption case can make it to court.

Summary

He’s already dealing with so much, but can he team up with Delilah and work to clear his name? The team may make a good pair, but they’re also dealing with someone that is not normal like them Instead, they’re a straight up cold blooded killer. What’s going to happen? Read Date with Death to follow all of the twists and the turns and find out for yourself!

Cozy Case Files Volume 16 (By: Carolyn Haines,Donna Andrews,Diane Kelly,Elizabeth Penney,Mindy Quigley,Korina Moss,M. C. Beaton) From stolen washing to inheritance investigations, Bruncliffe's Dales Detective Agency is being inundated with cases. Madame Lister est formelle, Stuart a disparu. Bien que Samson et Delilah n'y croient pas vraiment, ils acceptent d'enquêter et, de fil en aiguille, vont découvrir que tout n'est pas très net dans cette histoire..." I have not read this series before and what an omission that has turned out to be. I thoroughly enjoyed Date with Evil, which is an amusing cosy with a sharp edge that doesn’t shy away from the worst in human nature.

Cozy Case Files Volume 7 (By: Donna Andrews,Diane Kelly,Ellen Crosby,Ellie Alexander,Vivien Chien,Ashley Weaver,Mindy Quigley) Samson politely hears her out, but isn’t certain if this lady is all there. He’s not sure about her story but wants to follow up on it. When a retirement home reports a series of incidents disturbing the peace, the detective starts to think that she may have been telling the truth. Date With Danger” is the fifth novel in the “Dales Detectives” series and was released in the year 2019. This time around, Delilah and Samson are on the trail of a sheep rustler turned murderer. The series stars Delilah Metcalfe, who is a young woman that makes a living while running a dating agency. She works with Samson O’Brien, who is a private detective that runs Dales Detective Agency and ends up becoming his partner.Cozy Case Files Volume 12 (By: Carolyn Haines,Donna Andrews,Hannah Dennison,Cate Conte,Kylie Logan,Leonard Goldberg,Allison Montclair,Sheila Connolly,Ellie Alexander,Ashley Weaver,S.C. Perkins,Eve Calder,Jess Dylan,Mindy Quigley,Meri Allen) This is the eighth book in the Dales Detective series and follows almost directly on after the events of the previous book. I think that it would be quite difficult to enjoy this one without having read the previous books in the series. From stolen washing to inheritance investigations, Bruncliffe’s Dales Detective Agency is being inundated with cases. I wouldn't recommend anyone to read this book without reading the others first, relationships and storylines all converge in 'Date with Evil', but if that's too much of a reading commitment, I would at least start with the first book to get to know the characters, then read one or two before this one, if by that point you feel you can bear the spoilers. Great pace, great finish to so many stories, this feels like it could be a very satisfying end to my time in Bruncliffe with Samson and Delilah, but I don't want it to be, and right there is a mark of the success of this 8th instalment. I can't really comment too much on the plot because it ties up so many loose ends, and a fair amount of motive and villain identity is known before this book even starts

Still, I feel that this is a series that I would advise is best to read from the beginning, which is something that I hope to do in the upcoming months. Date With Malice” is the second novel in the “Dales Detectives” series and was released in the year 2017. When Mrs. Shepherd shows up at the Dales Detective Agency one morning in December, convinced that somebody is trying to kill her, and Samson dismisses all her fears as only the ramblings of one confused old lady. After a sequence of disturbing incidents at Fellside Court retirement home, he starts to wonder if there could be something to these claims that she is making after all. A woman in tears in the Dales Detective Agency is never the best way to start the week and when it's the town mayor's wife, asking the detective to investigate whether her husband is having an affair, Samson O’Brien and Delilah Metcalfe know they will have to tread carefully. I have just reviewed Date With Evil by Julia Chapman as an advanced reader copy thanks to @PanMcMillan and @NetGalley. Curl up with this delightful murder mystery, full of wit, warmth, and a cast of charming characters. Continue the series with Date With Betrayal.I very much enjoyed and will continue recommending this series to all who love a cosy crime or indeed as a palette cleanser for those who love more gritty crime. I can’t wait for more! Overall I think this is totally worth it, it has all the cozy vibes one could want, characters that are fun and with depth, a dog that is the most lovable thing, a slight romantic touch and a lot of mystery. Who knew a small town could harbor so much! Little do the detective duo know that several of their cases are about to collide when identifying the whereabouts of the missing man becomes something far more sinister. Julia Chapman is an author living north of England. It also happens to be a pen name used by the real life human being known as Julia Stagg. However, as I kept reading I did get more into the swing of the current story and found it a compelling read.
