Aboard Tolland's ship off the New Jersey coast, where the Delta Force arrives via helicopter to kill them, Rachel sends a fax message to her father asking for help. In fact, he has treated us to a marvelously broad cast of realistic, well-developed, human, credible characters that fairly leaped off the page - Marjorie Tench, a bone deep ugly spinster bitch with an incredible set of finely, honed killer political instincts; Michael Tolland, a charismatic scholar who like David Suzuki, David Attenborough or Jacques Cousteau, seemed to be able to translate real scientific knowledge unerringly into a well understood and widely appealing television format; Rachel Sexton, the daughter of the self-centered presidential hopeful senator, struggling to distance herself from politics and retain her credibility as a skilled intelligence analyst with the NRO; and Gabrielle Ashe, the starry-eyed aide who succumbed to Sexton's political reputation and got trapped in a career-killing sex scandal. It also comes at a time of presidential election and with the current President and his challenger Senator Sexton having different stances as to what to do with NASA. The heat from the helicopter causes a whirlpool in the ocean and both the helicopter and the ship get sucked into the water’s vortex.

In a breathtaking race against time, Harvard professor Robert Langdon must decipher a labyrinthine trail of ancient symbols if he is to defeat those responsible - the Illuminati, a secret brotherhood presumed extinct for nearly four hundred years, reborn to continue their deadly vendetta against their most hated enemy, the Catholic Church.I liked a lot the way of how Dan Brown proposed his idea of the finding of alien life, since it can be easily the way as it will happen in real life. Aside from the fact that he is her boss, Rachel has another connection to the President: her father, Senator Sedgewick Sexton, is a presidential candidate running against the unpopular President Herney. Once on the submarine, the scientists inform William Pickering, Director of the National Reconnaissance Office, of everything that has transpired since landing at the meteorite site. Failing to succeed, she and Rachel cooperate to replace the meteorite fiasco evidence with photos of said affair.

While not as financially successful as The Da Vinci Code, Deception Point received largely positive reviews from critics and is considered an audience favorite among Dan Brown enthusiasts. And this makes me much more willing to give him a pass for some of his cheap tricks and the odd scene that requires the suspending of disbelief. Accompanied by a team of experts, including the charismatic academic Michael Tolland, Rachel uncovers the unthinkable ? Corky Marlinson: A world-renowned astrophysicist and a staunch proponent of the authenticity of the meteorite, Corky has little knowledge of proper social conduct.I like that the plot moves around in scenery from the Arctic to Washington, DC and a few points in-between keeping the action flowing and the characters moving around instead of being static in one place. The woman's hair was light brown and fashioned in Washington's most popular style -- the "anchorwoman" -- a lush feathering, curled under at the shoulders. In the world of page-turning thrillers, Dan Brown holds a special place in the hearts of many of us. But they are successful and I have to confess, even I like them, and when it comes to books I am Picky with a most definite capital P.

related to NASA and since I admire the institution but the story is presented in such smart and plausible way that I could embrace the tale with open mind, understanding the intended bottom line in the book. Her father, Senator Sedgewick Sexton, is a presidential candidate who is more popular than incumbent President of the United States Zachary Herney. This had a slightly different style, and you can tell he was cutting his teeth on the classic suspense thriller where it's an international drama and constant sub-plot advancement.

With the Oval Office in the balance, the president dispatches White House Intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton to the Arctic to verify the authenticity of the find. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Whether the security leaks have come from the repeated “skyquakes” heard as far away as Los Angeles, or the unfortunate eyewitness sightings by a North Sea oil rig driller, or the administrative gaffe that left a description of Aurora in a public copy of the Pentagon budget, nobody will ever know. The chapters are also set from different perspectives; this was enjoyable but sometimes chapters were a page long and the book seemed to be a bit haphazard at times.
