Description

Outset Media, a Canadian-based manufacturer and distributor of games and puzzles, licensed MindTrap in 2007 and has since released MindTrap games in different forms. Two of these question types are team challenges where the teams compete to complete the challenge first. MindTrap is the game that challenges the way you think, containing a series of lateral thinking puzzle games played by two individuals or teams. If Team 2 answers correctly, they can either fill in one square on the pad and request another question, OR roll the die (0, 1, 2 or 3) and fill in the indicated value, thereby ending their turn.

Therefore, if players are using house rules as a default, that’s normally a sign that something has gone wrong. I was intrigued by the inquiry cards since they seemed like they were going to be similar to the cards from Black Stories. There is an ancient invention still used in some parts of the world today that allows people to see through walls. Share with us your comments, funny stories, tips, advice, strategies, creative ways to play, questions about how to play, problems with the directions or anything you want about MindTrap. MindTrap - All New Audio Mystery Edition (1994) - double cassette of over 2 hours, including new mysteries (to the original).MindTrap II - The Challenge Continues (1997) - a sequel introducing additional puzzle types (picture, stick and shape puzzles).

The styles of question include murder mystery puzzles, riddles, logic questions and lateral thinking puzzles. Even though some of the answers are logical or rely on common sense, your first thought is quite often incorrect. There are a decent amount of board games that rely on logic puzzles and I have played a couple in the past including Black Stories. A sequel to MindTrap, originally titled MindTrap - The Challenge Continues was released in 1997 by MindTrap Games, Inc.Once you have played through all of the cards, players are likely going to remember the answers to quite a few of the cards. The team that completes the challenge first gets to choose whether they want to move forward one space and get another question or whether they want to roll the die. While you might be able to win the game by being lucky with the die roll, I think most games will come down to which team gets the most correct answers. Extremely mainstream games like Monopoly often have ‘house rules’, which normally make the game faster, or get around problems that are baked into the game’s design.

This isn’t to say that I had no fun playing MindTrap, and I’m sure that the family audience that sustained this game originally still exists. With both games sharing most of the same rules I will begin with the rules for MindTrap and then address the additional rules for MindTrap 2 at the end.Originally released in 1991, MindTrap has baffled players with hundreds of logic puzzles and lateral thinking questions for more than three decades. Each time team comes up with the right solution they may move one step and demand another question or throw a die (0-3) and let the turn continue to the other team. If team 2 has failed to answer correctly, team 1 may supply one answer for their bonus, but without the aid of posing questions.
