I am usually not the biggest fan of seemingly inexpensive alternatives that look like more expensive ones. Semi-weighted keys reduce the sense of strength than full-weighted keys for more sensitive touch response to suit different playing styles, provide greater control, and maximizes playing comfort. You have a variety of acoustic piano, electric piano, strings, bass, and even synth tones with the Yamaha P-45.

What did impress me were the internal rhythms - the DEP-20 has over 200 internal rhythms you can use and play along with, in every genre and style you could imagine. The digital electric piano is constructed with 88 full-sized hammer-action keys with adjustable touch response. The weighted keys have the ability to be adjusted on the keyboard so you can make it easier when you’re just starting out. Instead, both of the pianos feature glossy plastic keys, which don’t make too much of a difference, but any experienced pianist will be able to tell that the keys are made out of plastic. Now, this is still a fair amount for a beginner’s piano, and it covers just about all your tone needs when starting out with lessons.

The Donner DEP-20 is not a practice instrument for a concert pianist - it's a beginner or intermediate instrument; perhaps your first step up from a non-weighted keyboard. They both feature 88-key keyboards with progressive hammer action, offer a realistic feel, and both come with decent speakers for practicing and jamming with other musicians. Dual mode lets you combine 2 voices together, like piano and strings, for an inspiring new playing experience.

Please kindly know that there is a USB port on the piano to allow connection with a computer, you can use a universal connection cable. Realistic piano-playing experience with a dual 25W stereo speaker system that ensures a rich and acoustic-like sound. One has to scroll through a list of 238 different sounds (“grand piano,” various tones for “organs,” etc. However, since the Donner DEP-20 features a graded hammer action system, it was the easy winner when comparing these features. This mode offers a way for pianists to achieve unique tones that they won’t get when using just one voice. So, when you play the P-45, you will feel that the keys on the left side have significantly heavier hammer action that gets progressively lighter as you move to the higher keys. When testing these pianos out, I found that there was barely a difference when it comes to the feel and playability.

So, for example, you can have a drum kit on the left side to play grooves and a piano voice on the right to play melodies and chords. If you’re just beginning then there’s going to be a while until you even come near to playing complex enough musical pieces to get near to that upper limit. When testing out the Donner DEP-20, the action was on the slightly heavier side, but it still felt very realistic.Granted, not all of these tones will be the best quality, and if you’re a beginner, you might not even use a bunch of them.
