Testing conducted by Apple in August and September 2021 using JetStream 2, MotionMark 1.2 and Speedometer 2.0 performance benchmarks. Tested with pre-release Safari 15 and latest stable versions of Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox at the time of testing on: 13” MacBook Pro systems with Apple M1 and pre-release macOS Monterey, and Intel Core i7–based PC systems with Intel Iris Xe Graphics and Windows 10 Pro; iPad Pro 12.9” (5th generation) units with pre-release iPadOS 15, and Intel Core i7–based PC systems with Intel Iris Xe Graphics and Windows 10 Pro; and iPhone 12 Pro Max with pre-release iOS 15, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 888–based smartphones with Android 11. Devices tested with a WPA2 Wi-Fi network connection. Performance will vary based on usage, system configuration, network connection and otherfactors. On these smart motorway stretches mandatory speed limits can vary, but are displayed in a red circle above the road and legally these have to be followed. This is the Kegworth Interchange in the East Midlands, but it provides connections to the A6, A50 and A453, so you can imagine the potential and frequent congestion. Work to improve the junction and surrounding area started in 2017. Variable speed limit is one of these techniques, which sees temporary speed limits displayed on gantries to manage traffic speed in the event of congestion or roadworks. Smart motorways are sections of motorway that employ various traffic management techniques to help improve traffic flow during particularly busy times.

The M1 motorway connects London to Leeds, and stretches 193.6 miles in length. It opened in 1959 as the UK’s first motorway - it actually featured the very first motorway services, Watford Gap - and was built in four phases. When the M1 first opened, it was a very different motorway to today; in its early days there were no speed limits in place for vehicles and no crash barriers or central reservation.We own almost 4000 traffic cameras which have been used to assist with the management of traffic on the trunk road and motorway network in England for nearly 30 years. Wales and Scotland have separate operations. The primary users of the traffic cameras are our Regional and National Traffic Operations Centre operators. The operators are able to move and zoom the cameras to monitor and manage congestion and incidents. The cameras give a bird’s eye view of what is happening which helps the operator to decide on the support needed. M1 Junction 13 to 16 - there is planned work to turn this 24-mile section of the M1 into an All-Lane Running smart motorway. The scheduled end date for this is June 2021.The E-M1 also gains the excellent 2.3M-dot electronic viewfinder panel we first saw as the VF-4 accessory for the PEN E-P5. Not only is the resolution very impressive, but the viewfinder optics give a viewfinder with magnification of up to 1.48x (depending on display mode), which puts it only a fraction behind the 0.76x viewfinder in Canon's 1D X and ahead of Nikon's pro-grade D4 DSLRs.
