Boarding Actions are an excellent way to build small, thematic armies that can’t fill the full-sized battlefields of Warhammer 40,000, such as these Aeldari Corsairs . Is The Chaos Boarding Patrol Box Worth it?

On the talk of upgrades, let’s talk about the Corsairs. You can take both variants into battle with this box – either 10 Voidscarred and 10 Voidreavers, or as 20 of either option. It’s interesting to see Corsairs as infantry in lieu of Guardians, but it’s thematic and the Corsairs offer high customisability – I could list off what each weapon upgrade and ability does all night long, but the Aeldari race might be entirely extinct by the time we’d finish, so I’d recommend referring to your Codex to build your Corsair options. The Praetorian kit, fortunately, can be built into Lychguard – so you’ll have 10 in this set, who are a much better choice for a Boarding Patrol. So really, the Praetorians on the box should have been replaced with Lychguard – if they wanted to have variation, get the ones with the shields up and front.

This new book which collects all the supplements released for the game so far was revealed on April 16, 2023. The Warhammer Community team has come up with a few of our own sample lists to see what’s possible. Were it up to me, with 165 points to spare, I’d probably want to bring another unit of 10 Fire Warriors to pad the boarding force out with more firepower and then use the remaining 75 points to upgrade everything possible to the max – and there’s such a cornucopia of guns, especially with the Battlesuits, to choose from – and they’re all pretty valuable, despite their standard/ shorter range – but then again, that’s what Boarding Actions is all about. There’s too many walls to be sniping someone off the board with railguns – so sometimes the closer you can get, the better.

Updated 40k Boarding Patrol Boxes: What’s the Value?

As a relatively high-value box of miniatures, there are some serious savings to be snapped up with the Aeldari Boarding Patrol box. This new campaign book, the second in the The Aranthian Succession series, was revealed on March 17, 2023. These are some excellent savings – amongst the top tier of Boarding Patrols – except for Australia, which falls over 10% behind the others. Not sure why that is, but it does put a bit of tar on this box’s savings – but otherwise, this is great value if you’re in need of buffing a Necron horde. Every unit in this box has Teleport Strike, meaning you don’t have to deploy right away. They can be set up in reserve and be deployed in the reinforcements step in future movement phases anywhere on the board you’d like – as long as it is 9″ away from enemy units. This will put you at significant advantage, as it gives you more opportunity and time to plan exactly where you can put your models in the most strategic places – on unclaimed objectives, or behind your foe’s models. In Boarding Actions, any unit with similar ability are invaluable. As someone who both owns T’au and has had the displeasure of being on the receiving end of a T’au army – this box looks like it’s gonna sting with all that firepower – and with Farsight at the front, the memes of T’au being unable to melee can now be put to rest (at least partially!).
