The DigiOne receives a data signal from the Raspberry Pi at the bottom and works its magic to deliver an astonishingly good measuring SPDIF digital audio signal that you can feel confident about and feed that to your high-end HiFi equipment that you cherish so much. Wrapping Allo’s dynamic duo is a custom clear acrylic case (black also available) whose form factor will be familiar to Raspberry Pi enthusiasts. At this point you take out your mobile phone and use an app like Squeezer or Orange Squeeze on Android to select music on the LMS server to play to the simulated Squeezebox (via PiCorePlayer) on the DigiOne Signature Player.

To me, the DigiOne (or DigiOne Player, if you look for a complete player) are the best choice possible as of now if you own an S/PDIF DAC, or if you know for sure that the implementation of S/PDIF receiver in your DAC is superior than the USB side. Just from a visual inspection you will immediately notice that this board is literally filled with components. Fleetwood Mac live twice and Bruce once (sadly only once - he was on stage for the best part of 3 hours).The best part of all is that these compact purpose-built systems are ready to download and use immediately with very little effort or knowledge needed to get it working. Another big reason for using a Raspberry Pi is that it is MUCH cheaper than any full-sized computer.

What you’re doing with both of these is catching packets off the Ethernet (or WiFi) and forwarding the bits of the music, unchanged, whether in PCM or DSD format, on to your DAC.

They are now solid copper and soldered to the ground on the board surface that should be a much stronger attachment than the previous orange plastic RCA Coax connector that was held in place with plastic pins and the through hole soldered wire connections. That cleaner background enables more space around instruments, they’re layered and separated better.
