Description

I recently discovered the treehouse series, through a review book and via my son, Mr 8’s new interest in this series. I found the most recent book in this series, The 104- Storey Treehouse, utterly hilarious. I was keen to see how this extremely popular series originated. I selected The 13-Storey Treehouse to read for Book Bingo 2018, covering the square ,‘a funny book’. Although I wasn’t rolling around the room in fits of laughter, I did enjoy a snigger or two, courtesy of both the writing and the illustrations of the creative duo of this series. Two new characters – Andy and Terry – live here, make books together, and have a series of completely nutty adventures. Because: ANYTHING can happen in a 13-storey treehouse. The 13-Storey Treehouse is a 2011 book [1] written by author Andy Griffiths and illustrated by Terry Denton, [2] and a stage play based on the book. [3] The story follows Andy and Terry, who are living in a 13-storey treehouse, struggling to finish their book on time among many distractions and their friend Jill, who lives in a house full of animals and often visits them. According to the book, the 13-storey treehouse has "a bowling alley, a see-through swimming pool, a tank full of man-eating sharks, a secret underground laboratory, a vegetable vaporizer and a marshmallow machine that shoots marshmallows into your mouths when it sees that you are hungry". Andy and Terry live in a treehouse. But it's not just any old treehouse, it's the most amazing treehouse in the world!

Who wouldn't want to live in a treehouse? Especially a 13-storey treehouse that has a bowling alley, a see-through swimming pool, a tank full of sharks, a library full of comics, a secret underground laboratory, a games room, self-making beds, vines you can swing on, a vegetable vaporiser and a marshmallow machine that follows you around and automatically shoots your favourite flavoured marshmallows into your mouth whenever it discerns you're hungry. The 13-Storey Treehouse won the Australian Book Industry Awards Book of the Year for Older Children 2012 [4] [5] and the 2012 COOL Award for Fiction for Older Readers. [6] Plot [ edit ]Life would be perfect for Andy and Terry if it wasn't for the fact that they have to write their next book, which is almost impossible because there are just so many distractions, including thirteen flying cats, giant bananas, mermaids, a sea monsters pretending to be mermaids, enormous gorillas, and dangerous burp gas-bubblegum bubbles! Climb more fun-filled levels by collecting all thirteen books in the seven million-copy-selling series – the perfect chapter books for reluctant readers. First and foremost, we should admit that this book was not written for me. It was written for kids and me not liking it really only means that I don't fall into the demographic that it was aimed at. I bought this book for my nephew's birthday, though, and I wanted to know what I was giving him after the bookstore ladies suggested it to me.

The story begins with Andy introducing himself and his friend Terry. He says that they live in a 13-story treehouse, which has a bowling alley, a see-through swimming pool, a tank full of man-eating sharks, vines you can swing on, a games room, a secret underground laboratory, a lemonade fountain, a vegetable vaporizer, and a marshmallow machine that follows you around and automatically shoots marshmallows into your mouth whenever you're hungry. Andy says that as well as the treehouse being his and Terry's home, it is also where they make books together. Andy writes the words and Terry draws the picture. urn:lcp:13storeytreehous0000grif:epub:ae5a3ae4-bc77-445e-bd31-9764a3f79e2c Foldoutcount 0 Identifier 13storeytreehous0000grif Identifier-ark ark:/13960/t46r0s889 Invoice 1652 Isbn 9780330404365

Treehouse series activity sheets

When Andy and Terry began to write their book, a giant gorilla started shaking the tree yelling, “BANANA!” Then a chauffer arrives, informing Terry has won the Barky the Barking Dog drawing competition and gets to meet Barky. But squished by the giant gorilla. As the duo loses hope. 13 flying cats, lead by Silky, began fighting the gorilla. Which was successful. The canaries then lift the gorilla away. The book has spawned a series of sequels, each of them adding 13 stories to the treehouse and other humour fiction: Andy and Terry live in the WORLD'S BEST treehouse! It's got a giant catapult, a secret underground laboratory, a tank of man-eating sharks and a marshmallow machine that follows you around and shoots marshmallows into your mouth whenever you're hungry! Just watch out for the flying cats, or the mermaids, or the sea monsters pretending to be mermaids, or the giant mutant mermaid sea monster… Oh, and, whatever you do, don't get trapped in a burp-gas-filled bubble…
