Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers! Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. This isn’t a flaw per se🌚, just personal preference, but because of the nature of the book (the author sharing her personal experiences), there are many parts that I found repetitive, which dampened parts of my reading experience. In my latest for @The_NewArab I examine @MuslimCensus and @tacollective_ ‘s recent report findings on Muslim women’s faith experiences in Britain With inspiring reflections, pratical exercises, powerful quotes and drawing from the spiritual wisdom of the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah it offers an invitation to:

Ramadan Reflections: a guided journal is a collection of intimate, healing, Islam-focused reflections aimed at guiding readers through the 30 days of Ramadan. Within each chapter, the author shares her own personal stories and experiences related to each topic. She weaves in ayahs from the Quran, Hadiths, and quotes from Islamic texts. Each chapter ends with a dua, which was my favourite part. We often make the same duas without my variation and we don’t know what else to ask for, but Aliyah has written some beautiful duas related to the messages in each chapter and they really felt meaningful and heartfelt. To hear her speak is to get a knife that cuts through all the fluff and gets straight into the real heart of the matter. She speaks fearlessly and passionately, inspiring and reflecting at turns, in ways which get us to question, examine, and pull out from the shadows the stories lurking there, so that we too can become the fearless drivers of our own lives. My favourite chapters were forgiving others and life audit. These two chapters resonate with where I am at now in my life. It felt like a book given to me by my older sister/mother - a heartfelt step by step guide for life.

Penguin approached me to write a book for them about Ramadan,” Aliyah explained to The New Arab. “Initially, they just wanted a book on reflections and asked me to create an outline. So, I asked myself: ‘What do I want the reader to get out of it?’”

A very comforting part of Ramadan Reflections came quite early on regarding LOVE, particularly the love for oneself. Not the egotistical, self-obsessed, proud version so commonly plastered all over social media nowadays. But the private kind, a connection between oneself and the Lord, one that promotes knowing one’s value and self-worth, all written in the most humbling words. I challenge you to not feel moved! Ramadan Reflections provides readers with an opportunity for deep self-reflection. Through captivating stories and reflections, Aaliyah Umm Raiyaan encourages readers to find a deeper understanding of Islam, as well as to make meaningful connections between the rituals of Ramadan and their everyday lives. She shares personal experiences and speaks from the heart, making this an inspiring and meaningful read for Muslims and non-Muslims alike. This is a really good value Ramadan journal for a cheaper price than many others on this list. This Islamic Moments Ramadan Reflections Journal has been designed to help you experience a more focused, organised and reflective Ramadan. There is space to write down your Ramadan goals, targets, reflections, recipes etc. Please go ahead and share this blog post with friends and family, so that everyone can benefit from our free resources during the Holy Month of Ramadan, so let’s make the best of this beautiful month.

Prayers that you have made, are making and will be making flow in sync with Aliyah’s own and some sections were so uncanny in how similar her reflections were to mine. Obviously hers expressed far more eloquently than mine! It is so beautifully written that I can’t even find a genre for it – snippets of her life like an autobiography, sincere Duahs like a book of supplication, space for reflection like a journal, advice to get closer to Allah like a book of guidance, quotes from The Holy Quran, scholars and hadith like a book of knowledge. She has been blessed to write this book and any reader of it is blessed to receive it. Sometimes it’s not that we don’t know something, but just that we need a reminder, a little nudge to remember the good something has for us. Day 28 on Istakhara teaches us to turn to Allah in times of desperation, in times when we truly need the guidance of Al-Hādi (the One who guides) to light the way for us. I learnt how to perform Istakhara correctly and with conviction that this is the best way to resolve my conflicting mind and heart. Ramadan Reflections starts with an easy-to-read introduction in which she gives readers ideas on how to interact with the book and its journalling prompts this helped me a lot as I find it hard to write in books. The introduction had me tear up as it rekindled hope in my heart.
